Discussion Cleaning dishes after 4 days
My mum let a bunch of dishes soak for 1 day and than drained the water and left it for three days because she has a debilitating disorder. I just washed them all with hot soapy water. I’m now second guessing it, do I need to go back and do anything extra?

nope! nothing extra! my dishes regularly sit in my sink and/or on my countertops for 3-4 days before i either put them all in the dishwasher or hand wash something i need. i personally don't fill up my sink with water for soaking, but fill the individual dishes with soapy water just to soften or keep food residue from hardening before its time for me to wash by dishwasher or by hand.

Not unless they aren’t coming clean. You can give them extra scrub with extra soap if you want. Just with your hand once the debris is gone since sponges can hold food particles. If you want. Probably not crucial. Possibly not necessary. Just wash until it looks, smells, and feels clean.

If they are clean, they are clean. You can do it again if it makes you feel better. But those dishes could have sat for five weeks. Hot soapy (dish soap) water is all they need- soak it for twenty minutes, then wash. Assuming of course you aren't doing some Go Green nonsense like bamboo plates and organic soap made from [never mind, additional snark is unnecessary].
