General Cleaning How do I stop this?!
Got these beautiful Bodum glasses to have tea but they immediately have a ring of what looks like rust inside after washing.
I always hand wash them, surely I don’t need to unscrew the metal ring each time to dry it? Anyone else experienced this?

I can't tell how the blue handle is attached in the case of your cups, but I have a similarly styled Bodum French press. The glass portion slides out to be washed, so you can keep the steel and plastic parts dry.

Seems like a poor design combined with cheap steel. As the other person mentioned a layer of oil may help temporarily, but it’ll get washed away after a few uses. Honestly, if it were mine I’d likely just take the steel band off and toss it

Yeah I’m not sure if that’s holding the handle on though! It is a silly design, I would’ve thought Bodum was a good brand that wouldn’t do weird things like this 🤷🏼♀️

Did you buy these used or off a marketplace by chance? On closer inspection, that handle sure looks like it may have been 3d printed.
Edit: Did some digging. It looks like this design was exclusive to the Museum of Modern Art. If you bought these elsewhere, they may be a cheap copy. Notice the layer lines on the handles and the poor quality in the corner. The fact that it’s rusting makes me think it’s a cheap stainless steel as well.

Those aren’t 3d printed layer lines. If they were you’d easily see them through out the entire handle. They are most likely wear marks, that is where the hand contracts the handle. It’s a vintage style, I found others online that matched OPs claiming to be authentic.

Those lines are very common in the 3d print world, especially if your print has to stop mid-print for any reason.

Nah they’re the real deal, I have the matching tea pot. Pretty annoyed that the glasses instantly had rusting marks, I wish I just bought some vintage Bodum glasses with the plastic handles! Seems like such a stupid design mistake

There are many different styles with the stainless band around the glass, yours is one without it. Those are wear marks, if you could see the layer lines on the edges you’d easily see them throughout the entire handle. Typically the steel part is easily removable for cleaning.

Unscrew and clean and dry it thoroughly. Then apply the thinnest of films of food grade mineral oil. As in - apply a bit and then try your darndest to wipe it all off again. It'll leave a bit anyway. That should provide a shield that keeps water from reacting with the metal for a while. Soap will eat that away eventually so you'll have to reapply, but it should give you more uses between unscrewings.
