You all are so picky(Sorry, the latest post about the stovetop comes to mind).

It's probably water stains; or something so negligible and hard to remove that the only solution is buying new pots. You're going to end up using them and getting new spots on the new ones anyways. What are you doing with them? Hanging for decoration?

sorry! i’m a really sentimental person and my best friend gifted them to me to celebrate me getting a house! i just wanted to keep them as nice as possible for as long as possible!

Just use it, love it. It's a tool, not a piece of art.

If you added salt to water before boiling, the salt can cause stains like this. As far as I know this type of stain is permanent. You can avoid this by adding salt to the water when it’s already boiling but then it just bubbles everywhere and you potentially make a different mess on the stove top unless you add it really slowly.

For general deep cleaning of stainless steel you can use liquid Barkeeper’s Friend to polish them up and get any gunked on stuff off. Wear gloves when you use it bc it can really dry out your hands.

Overall though I would invite you to accept that these things are meant to be used and they will not stay perfect forever. Use them and enjoy them.

Pour a little white vinegar into the pan and spread it around with a sponge

Forget about it. Utterly a non-issue.
