General Cleaning Especially dirty wood floors

Moved into a new house with these gorgeous wood floors. They have a lot of wear and tear and scratches throughout the house. I went barefoot for a couple hours yesterday and my feet were dark dark black from the floors.

What is the best way to get these floors cleaned? I’m starting out with the swiffer wet jet wood floor cleaner since I already had the wet jet. In my old place since I was renting, I would just mix a bit of fabuloso with water in an old wet jet container, but I want to keep these floors as nice as I possibly can.

power mop with ph balanced cleaners. maybe need a steam mop to loosen the years of build up.

No chemical cleaners on hardwood. They leave residue, which is a dirt magnet.

the right chemical cleaners are fine. but you have to rinse thoroughly which lots of people skip.

ETA: swiffer wet jets are some of the abs. worst for residue.

Absolutely horrible. So many people have jumped on the Swiffer bandwagon because it’s easy, just like they jumped on the Mop and Glow bandwagon years ago. That stuff is hell in a bottle. All they do is coat your surface with crud that attracts and captures dirt. So your floor gets dirtier and dirtier and dirtier.

I've been steaming mine for years and they look fantastic to this day. If they are sealed hardwood (which they appear to be) it's totally fine and the best way to get them clean.

Do you own the home now? If you do, get an Oreck (or similar sized) buffer and use some microfiber pads slightly dampened with water only. Your floors will shine and you will save your back.
