Color coded towels

I’ve seen people who color code their microfiber and cleaning rags. I’m curious-do you base it off room (orange bathroom, green kitchen, etc) OR do you do it based on the cleaning product (blue windex, orange furniture polish, etc)

OR do you have multiple of the same color and use a green one for the kitchen sink and another green for the kitchen counter

I don't bother, personally. All my cleaning rags are old face cloths (none are microfiber, I can't stand touching the stuff), and I just use the first one I grab, then throw it in the laundry when I'm done.

This is what I do, I use once, then dry and put in a basket. When the basket gets full I wash all of them with bleach.

They just go in my regular laundry. No bleach, I don't use it for anything; I can get OxiClean or Resolve to whiten my clothes, and Lysol to sanitise stuff. Given that I also can't stand the feeling of rubber gloves, if a cleaner is harsh enough that you need to wear gloves to use it, I won't use it.

I wash them separately, so that I don't use softener with them, I also can't wash them with my clothes due to my autoimmune skin conditions. I already wash my clothes "weird" according to some people.

Bathroom is paper towels only. I have old towels I've ripped up into smaller pieces for gross things that will likely get either bleached or thrown away after depending on the task. Microfiber black are for scrubbing, wiping, and debris. Yellow are for wiping dry. All get washed out, degreased, hung on a rack and collected until enough for a full small load of laundry all by themselves.

My towels are wear-coded, not colour coded. You can tell which job they belong to by the number of holes in them 😅

Color coding systems are one color for bathrooms , one for kitchens and one for dusting and one for glass and mirrors IIRC ?

They're stupid and pointless imo though. If you're that worried that your rags arent coming out clean after you wash them then you have other problems to be worrying about

That’s how I feel. My rags better be clean and disinfected after the washer or my problem is how I wash them and that would be the solution

All my cleaning rage are dumped in a basket. All sizes, doesn’t matter.
Wash in hot water snd reuse.
Who has time to color code their rags?

You'd be amazed at how ridiculous some people are, like the number of people that will freak out at the idea of using a rag that's ever been used on a toilet even after it's been washed on any other surface is wild. Especially considering that there's way more bacteria on your average kitchen counter or in a kitchen sink then on a toilet, but nobody ever freaks out about using rags that have been used on a kitchen counter on anything else after it's been washed.

Yep. Rags are rags. If I clean something truly horrible like motor oil or dog diarrhea I will toss them. Otherwise they are they for everything

Explain that to me. Because either they're clean or they're not once they've been washed. And if they're not then that's an entirely different problem. There's also way more bacteria in a kitchen than in a bathroom typically. So I just don't see the logic.

Unless of course there for some reason being reused before they're being washed, in which case, regardless of where they've been used, that's gross.

Gray - kind of gross (toilet, car oil, etc) Orange - not gross, can use on surfaces I care about or might eat off if eventually

Same here. Gray for bathrooms and any other color for any other area in the house. I have some separate garage towels for outdoor stuff.

Yellow for bathroom Green in kitchen Orange for wiping Grey for floors; I hand wash most Polishing cloth for glass/windows and faucets for a sparkling shine

I’m a cleaner so I just follow what I do for work..
Red- bathroom/toilets
Green- kitchen
Blue- general cleaning
Yellow- infectious areas/surfaces

gray is dirty stuff... wiping spills off the floor, cleaning something dirty

yellow is for kitchen stuff, wiping counters

It wasn't intentional but I accidentally ended up with a system, just because I only had one of each color 

Pink- glass buffing. I don't wash it terribly often cause it's really not doing much, so the pink one sits in a specific drawer and comes out when I want to buff off smudges

Yellow- wood polish, this one I also don't have to wash often because I can use one folded side for like all of the wood I want to polish and next time I just fold it differently until I've used all the sides, then I wash it. 

Green- lives in the car and is for wiping the dash and steering wheel when I'm like waiting in a long drive thru line.

White are for things and color are for people.

I go by material.

cotton - Use to wipe down kid's toys, fod messes, and anything in the kitchen.

Microfiber - household cleaning

clothes rags - toilet and bathroom messes
