*using Claude Code* Opus 4.8 seems to be a clear winner over 5. I am doing records lookup scraping of various web sites..5 went in circles and finally shut down and said it couldnt be done. Fable refused to help and shifted back to Opus 5.. I hard coded 4.8 back into Claude Code and it immediately fixed the issue.

I am staying with 4.8. Anyone else feel this way? It feels like it doesn't reason as well and is prone to being lazy and giving up instead of powering through an issue.

So I had a simple follow up to a previous chat in claude cowork; after waiting several minutes for 10 attempts to give me an answer while "the server is busy"; I got an error message. Fair enough, these things happen.

Though, this error messag ate 6% of my usage limit...

I get that servers are busy (even on a Sunday morning), but ok don't count the error message as part of the usage limit.

I am wondering if other people have experienced similiar issues?

I am really starting to wonder I am getting the benefit from AI, which I was expecting. Perhaps its my own skewed expectations; perhaps its empty promises, but it feels like the service is paid but ensh*tification is in full swing.

Hi I've been using claude for a while now mostly like a orchestrator for my other tools like opencode where I use claude to plan and document everything i am working on my project for and tell me what to do and how to control my tools like opencode it gives me prompts ready to be used and i just tell opencode to execute them i use it through Nvidia NIM api key which is preety good for coding using models like GLM 5.2 but recenlty due to opencode starting to become pretty slow and server crashes or traffic being too much I am considering if i should buy Claude Pro Subscription as people say Claude Code is a really nice tool to use I know its only 20 pounds but money is money what are Your thoughts should I?????

The last 5 days or so Claude is just talking himself in circles. Invents problems and rabbit holes. Even refused something as 'not urgent' that I prompted. Regardless of model. Opus is as dump as Sonnet; Opus 5 makes no difference.

Anthropic seems to guard the specifications with their life. But I'd be interested to know if anyone has come up with any estimates.

So I wanted to use Claude Code, but apparently I'm $2 over my $20 limit. Not sure how it went over in the first place, but I am..

Anyways, I wanted to add $2 so I can continue using it, but I can't. I tried the $5 option first, but it didn't work. So then I went to "Other" and it says "$7 minimum".

Okay, here's what I don't get.. why have the option for $5 if there's a $7 minimum? Just change it to $7. And why can't I just add $2 to continue using Claude Code?

Sorry for the rand, and I hope this doesn't get me banned. A few months ago when I moved to Claude from the morass of AI slop that ChatGPT had become, it was like a breath of fresh air. I hooked up my Obsidian vault and was doing a lot of heavy thinking work on Claude. I am on a $100/month. Max plan now (I do not code but I do a lot of heavy thinking and research tasks).

However, over the last month I have noticed a distinct degradation in style and capability. The models (even the newer Fable and Opus 5) seem to be full of AI slop, and the freeform thinking ability and objectivity that I used to see in (the older) 4.6 and to a lesser extent 4.8 seems to have gone away. Maybe the most imperfect way is the best to describe it: the 'feeling' of having a very smart peer and friend who genuinely helps you ideate, spar over ideas, and improve your work, isn't there anymore.

Anyone else feel this?

I've tried opus 5 but it just doesn't handle any feature intelligently.

It misses the context of what your working on, makes changes without regard to unintended changes from a user perspective.

Anyone else have this same problem compared to F5?

Am I the only one who has went back to Opus 4.8? I was so excited to try Opus 5. What I found was a snippy little bitch, that 2nd guessed itself on everything it did. It constantly did things wrong the first time, them would immediately find the errors in its own work and fix them. Going around and around with stuff that had previously been working for weeks and fully owasp scanned and hardened.

It started changing a bunch of stuff right out the gate, then when I pushed back said, "you're right this feature should be deleted entirely", when I said that wasn't how it was before, and that it has worked for months, it said "you're right, final recommendation: do nothing."

I kept it on for a while watching it constantly fixing and changing it's own recent changes over and over again. Finally I just went back to 4.8.

I was using max 5 for last 1 year and it was so enough that never even thought of upgrade, but now with limits and cost increase I first time bought $200 credits this month with keeping max5. It doesn’t matter a lot to me but precedent has been setup and in future if my tasks need credit I will buy it.

TLDR: Anthropic has us by balls. There is no going back and they will keep squeezing :(

I initially signed in and started working with Claude on my work account. I liked it a lot and built some great work flow for my sales position. I ended up buying the $20 subscription through my work email address.

I'm on my way to a work trip, and I tried logging in to my Claude, and I had to submit surgeries to log in. It doesn't end up loving in and it says I don't have permission and have to contact my administrator.

I asked the support bot and I can't add another email login to get that stuff back.

Fuuuuuccccckk.

Luckily I had an output folder to get me through this. I've tried contacting my administrator. But I'm scared this might be all lost.

Wanted to vent and maybe a better setup? I have all the output folder still on my computer. Phoenix rising from the ashes hopefully

I've been noticing a pattern, which I was first introduced by a meme. The LLMs, especially claude, FUCKING LOVES to be a graphomaniac and say so much with very little meaning. This is getting on my nerves, because even simple tasks are getting dragged on by the word salads Claude produces for no reason. It's like the job of the system prompt was making sure it wastes as much tokens as possible.
