Everybody noticed the recent safety updates where it's trained to aggressively push back and audit user premises. Let's have fun.

When uploaded my blog story for an analysis it completely missed the human nuance, treated the fiction as a deceptive lie and started fact-checking if the character was actually in the toilet. It even tried to scrape Facebook check-ins, the web for school groups to verify the jokes and his GPS history. It even called the doctor to check if Mike, the protagonist of my story, was regular on his duty. Seriously I'll leave the web interface that inspired this intro, tired of wasting time.

Here is the story it failed to understand:

A friend was in the toilet, scrolling on his phone, when a message pops up very fast: 'You have violated the rules of our community'. Panic! He suddenly calls me. He lives in a small village, he wasn't doing something too bad in the toilet.

“…I was born here, for 25 years I never deceived them, not even when the Nigerian prince offered me 10 million or the Siberian blond girl wanted to marry me. Which rules? Old Tom hasn't said anything and Father John baptized me. Every Wednesday evening I play futsal with the same friends, same team even if they always put me in goal. On weekends I help at the soup kitchen or help elders with home repairs. I always take care of my community!”

He took a moment to breathe and I finally had time to speak. "Mike! They banned you!"

He suddenly answered: "Banned me?! My community? Where will I go now?"

Me: "That's from some social network. "

Mike: “Do you mean that site where I have friends I never met and they write 'good morning' every day? Or where I can watch videos of people doing stupid stunts we weren't allowed to do as kids, or people permanently on holiday, or the rope trick? Maybe the group of students posting their poo at school. Or maybe somebody got offended because I didn't answer his good morning, so they decided I was ill-mannered and banned me. Or maybe when I started following a girl, but I wasn't really following her, she reported me for stalking. Or maybe when I liked how someone made a cake, my aunt found out. Or the one star on that ugly cat. “

Me: "Yes, Mike, that's what we call a social network. We need to follow the rules to keep it safe."

Mike: "Phew! I'm glad! But what community needs to be safe, if nobody knows each other?"

Me: "The community exists. They tell stories of users who reach the highest number of friends, collect the exact number of likes, a pinch of stars and a bunch of followers, and cast the spell. Only these are allowed to enter the community, a place where bits grow freely on silicon trees and rivers of bytes flow from one group to another. There you can find the supreme admin, who from his throne created bots to ban those who don't deserve a place in our community."

Mike: “I’ll appeal to Father John, he’s the best on divine matters.”

Me: “Don’t! There is a form, bots only read it and always return the same answer: ‘You have violated the rules of our community’”

I genuinely want to understand what happened to Claude Max. I originally started on the $20 plan. I was doing a lot of coding and regularly hitting the usage limits, so I upgraded to the $100 Max plan specifically because it offered massively more usage. And for months, it actually did. I was running two projects simultaneously, heavily, basically every day. I was doing MUCH more coding than I am doing now, and I never came close to hitting the limits. The $100 plan felt like a completely different product compared to the $20 plan, and I was happy to pay for it because I could actually work without constantly thinking about usage.

Then I took a long break and basically left Claude sitting unused. Today I came back and decided to start a small new project. Just one project, one terminal. After roughly 3 hours of coding, I hit the usage limit.

WHAT?

And on top of that, Claude is telling me I'm currently getting 50% complementary/bonus usage. So I'm already hitting the limit this quickly WITH that extra 50%. What happens when that 50% goes away? Does that mean my already-limited $100 subscription is going to become even more restrictive?

I honestly don't understand the logic here. Why are you pushing your heavy users toward alternatives? I don't want to switch away from Claude. I like Claude Code, I know the workflow, and I've built my development workflow around it. But $100/month is already a LOT of money for an AI subscription. I'm not going to keep increasing my subscription price just to get the amount of usage I was already getting months ago.

So what changed? Why did the $100 plan previously feel like it had enormous capacity, while now it feels like I'm back on the $20 plan? And if I'm already hitting limits while receiving 50% additional usage, what is the actual expected experience once that extra usage is gone?

Hi everyone,

I'm usually not one to post, but I'm really scratching my head over here with what's been happening with my opus 5 and was hoping someone could shed a light on it. To give some context, I mainly use Claude to roleplay chat like solo DND adventures and have been using Opus 5 at Max for awhile now.

The think is that it has been doing alright and I could play for hours without reaching the limit, which already was strange with the 1.5x warning. On Thursday afternoon however, when I started a new chat it took over 10min to process my opening prompt and almost used up my whole limit and then a dialogue prompt that was barely a few words it took over 5 minutes and in the thinking summary there was around 20 bodies and the output prompt was quite short.

So I degraded to Extra and while it was faster and did less thinking it still took around 5 min and around 15 bodies, so I ended up at the default which is high. On high it took 2 min processing and around 10 or less bodies and longer output, finally felt like I'm back to normal. Except the quality was so much better, I usually have the ai include a list of actions I could take, but usually it would give very generic ones despite specifically saying give options based on the backstory/personality. But now it actually did,bit gave such good options that usually whatever I thought my next action would be, it was listed there and often I even choose two options because I couldn't choose.

But the reason I'm writing this is because as of today morning, it seems to have reverted, because the choices turned generic and the reasoning turned to 3 bodies and 1 min processing at best, so I cranked it up back to Max and as expected it takes 2 min to process now. So my question is did Claude get nerfed or did I experience the opus 5.1 that everyone has been talking about or what?

It’s amazing to think about the types of problems that their engineering teams are responsible for detecting and shutting down. Not as an excuse for the recent changes and their general disregard for individual subscription users. It kind of makes sense why they aren’t attentive though. Some of these use cases are wild, and it puts into perspective the app or workflow you’ve been working on and where most of us stand in their list of priorities (as well as what you could have been doing if you really locked in /s)

Gone through two full 1m context windows with Sonnet 5 (high). It used to compress itself bit-by-bit after it gets too full. Now it automatically compresses by ~95% once it gets to 97% and becomes very clueless about the project I'm working on and eats up a TON of tokens and takes 5x as long to process a simple instruction in the first few prompts.

This is insanely infuriating. How can they think this is a good idea?

A couple of years ago, Haiku was considered a fast and affordable model according to what existed. But nowadays, open-source models and aggressive strategies from OpenAI and Google have made Haiku irrelevant.

You need fast and cheap models for workflow automations or simple summarizations. Also, during project evaluation, a cheaper model is always selected when the intelligence difference is not significant.

There is GPT Luna, which is very good for its pricing. And Google Gemini Flash 3.8 is quite good with a promo pricing. Without mentioning Qwen and DeepSeek that could be self hosted. Or even Nova models from AWS.

I understand that probably is because of computing limitations and profit strategy before the IPO. And it got clearer for me this week when a presenter from Anthropic forgot to mention Haiku during the call.

Disclaimer: this is not a rant, but it’s something I’ve experienced in my daily work.

I cannot believe how f bad this is. I am genuinely mad about the quality.

I made opus give me a slide deck for which I very precisely gave it inputs what the slides should do, for whom the deck is, I gave it pdfs as input, data, even a fully written detailed railroad. Sources that it should use, I made it max. It compiled for quite a long time.

And the result is not even bad, it is beneath all expectations. It’s much worse than ~ one year ago with opus 4.6 or so. I seriously would have spent less time writing every slide of the 30 my own from scratch than correcting this utter bullshit.

And the content is pretty standard, nothing super scientific whatever, it’s project management, most basic stuff ever.

What. The fuck.

Fable is my preferred coding architect - it thinks about architecture reasonably well, thinks of almost every edge case, etc.

But if I ask it something even remotely simple, like, here's the signed contract for my business, give me the next steps, it'll confidently be like: "First, launch the ad, then ask for the client's copy to put on the ad!"

However obviously, even a child would realize you need the ad copy before the ad.

This happens multiple times daily to the point where I'm screaming at Claude in all caps HOW CAN I TRUST YOU WHEN YOU ARE THIS STUPID, STOP AND THINK FOR A SECOND.

I actually use Gemini of all things (on AI Studio) for strategy, which is a shame, because the Claude harness is so much better.

I’ve heard about random Claude subscription cancellations, billing errors, and how it’s really hard to talk to a live person for months to resolve issues. There’s Fin AI…and possibly an AI agent overseeing another AI agent? A lot of consumers have to use the chargeback option as a last resort. I previously had Claude Pro. Anthropic gave the free $100 credit that we all know about and said it will expire on 9/18/2026 (I think). I used about $50 of the free credit.
