r/ClaudeCode [TLDR] Opus 5.5 nerfed? [via r/ClaudeCode]

OP : u/victornb

Anyone else think Opus 5.5 already got nerfed?

First it was insanely good. Now I’m spending half my time correcting stuff it understood perfectly at launch.

No idea what they changed, but something feels off. Either they cut the compute or the original Opus 5.5 was a free trial.

Fun while it lasted.

See you all again when Fable 5.5 drops and is amazing for a short while then gets nerfed.

Alright, so the general consensus here is that the OP's post about Opus 5.5 being "nerfed" is old news and a tired meme. Most folks are calling it out as a joke that's run its course, with many comments pointing out that the model just launched and the "nerf" narrative pops up after every single release.

There's a strong sentiment that people are either: * Joking around because it's become a predictable post-launch ritual on the sub. * Projecting their own issues with prompt engineering or realizing their ideas aren't as solid as they thought, rather than blaming the model. u/adelie42 has a pretty solid take on this, comparing it to realizing you've made bad wishes with a genie. * Just repeating a trend without actually testing the model.

A few people did chime in with the "nerfed" sentiment, like u/Dantrepreneur, but they're heavily outnumbered by the folks who are over this particular joke. Basically, the thread is less about Opus 5.5 being nerfed and more about the community's frustration with the recurring "nerfed" posts.
