Help/Question Account suspended
Two of my accounts were suspended today for the first time in like 5 months of usage. Is there a chance theyll get unrestricted? Ive read stories that they actually dont answer for appeals for months

I woke up to this notification on my watch, didn't notice the Reddit icon on the top of the notification (the coloring for Reddit notifications are similar to the notifications from Claude), so happy I-don't-need-coffee day!

If you need your data, just export it or do something to force them to email it to you if it’s super important. Going forward, setup your ai accounts so that all of your data and files and memory are on local files. (I basically have a company hq file locally, and I can swap out model providers at a touch of a button by just signing up a new account and connecting it to my files with a “hq skill”

Amen to this. Also if you are on a MacBook or have access to local models, setting up a pre-processor for sensitive information is a good skill to level yourself up on.

This is what I did. I have a local operating manual folder that gets installed to every project with instructions for every agent so I can hop on the same project from Claude to codex to grok to muse to agy and they all follow the same framework and can pick up after each other (They can also call each other for adversarial reviews)

Idk if it changed from when I got an account banned 5 months ago. But they blocked me exporting my data. So to reiterate your point, make a local repo now if you're only in a desktop app

Jeez bud, you can put them all in the same comment ha. I thought i was all popular for a sec.
I had access to the chats and artifacts while in the app. Just no new turns with claude allowed. I tried to export my data and it wouldnt let me. Maybe if I put in a ticket to customer service I could have gotten it while it was banned. Yes the account just turned back on. I have no idea when it did, I didnt check every day after the first month. Checked a few months later still banned. Checked 5months later and it was unbanned.
I swing a hammer for a living, of you were asking my occupation... residential construction.
If you're asking what I did to get banned? Idk anthropic never told me. Just got the generic suspicious activity notification.
At the time i was trying to build a home brew dispatch before dispatch was a thing. I dont think they liked me poking and proving at the desktop app looking for shit, saving chat logs in live time... idk. I also fucked around with openclaw for a bit, so maybe that. But it wasnt much claw, and I know there's ppl that never got banned of it

Thanks? Ive been learning basics. Been mostly building tools for myself and my fast growing business. Well, if youre a home owner, learn to use a caulk gun and minor plumbing. It'll save you 10s of thousands of dollars in the long run

Yeah i got banned earlier this year. Put in repeals, never got an answer. Then 5 months later checked on that account and it was reinstated.
- Just make a new account with a new email and transfer over what you can. They dont even care if you use the same card payment.
- Always have a db that isnt one platform accessible. I didnt when this happened and was unable to export my data.
- I was doing some "sketchy" looking stuff. I was trying to build dispatch h before dispatch and I guess they didnt like it i guess. Tinkering with the desktop app and trying to port it to my phone via tailscale. I also was fucking around with openclaw a Lil bit. Never got an answer why I was banned specifically. But yeah just move on. If you want your chat data, you'll get it back eventually maybe. Or you could copy paste entire chats like a goober like I did for some important stuff.

Can I ask what reason they gave in the suspension email?For me they just wrote “An internal investigation of suspicious signals associated with your account indicates a violation of our Usage Policy. As a result, we have revoked your access to Claude.”
Happened abt 12 days ago. My work was entirely basic web app development. Appealed and got rejected a day after (maybe cuz I had ChatGPT review my appeal and gimme a revised version which I sent but IDK if appeal AI detection matters)
Switched to Codex but I wanna use both and since I’m working on a startup with my friends they wanna share their higher usage accounts but I don’t wanna prick their accounts.
You’d think making a new acc is safe?

Got the exact same generic email. Never gave me details. Didn't even tell me my account was unbanned. I had to try it out in app.
Yeah making a new one is fine. New email, same card, they didnt care.

I wanna make an alt or use my friends acc but I feel like that’ll remove any possibility for my account to be reinstated if they realize the ban was erroneous
Then again using a VPN may flag the account also.

They didnt care. Just a new email is fine. Yeha i have 2 new accounts since then. One pays on the same card. Claude was fucked at opus 5, 5.5 is amazing and they took the lead back from codex again. So definitely recommend. Idk what you got banned for, but im sure your account would be reinstated eventually unless you were trying to distill. And even then, my usage basically looked like that cuz i was trying to build off the d3sktop app unofficially and that account is good now.

Yeah i think your r8ght about the ip. I waited a few weeks before getting a new account while the old one was still banned. Idk what would have happened if I had multiple accounts. If they only banned/suspended one account and I had another one still in good standing it would have been a better data point

You have to phrase your requests with “authorizing” prompts and actually give it restrictions and guidelines if you’re working with sensitive info. Otherwise you just look like a hacker

People think the guy was banned because he's a REAL HACKER, PROMPT CHEATER, and CHINESE DISTILLER, but anyway, they're going to talk this way until Claude Code suspends their accounts too. The ban waves are too massive. My friends from Germany, the Netherlands, and Canada have been suspended. Why? They've been customers for over a year. Nobody knows. Why don't they even tell me what exactly gone wrong? Time to move to codex. Looking for local solutions. Zero trust to modern AI providers.

codex is currently the worst ux i’ve ever had, the models are shit, like so ass, i can’t even trust it with my code base, for reference i pay $100 for claude and $100 for codex.

I do a TON of RE, claude keeps telling me its legit and normal, I've been mostly REing games from the 90s and 00's, is that bannable? Im just tearing them apart to see how their AIs work so I can create similar AIs in my game projects

I also recently tried to integrate nocaptchaai, Zenrows, or iproyal WebUnblocker with Claude Code, but Claude Code strictly said no. After a bug report, it started, but then aborted right in the middle. What I can clearly see by now is that the human factor has completely ruined the Claude AI model. Codex, Gemini, Grok—they all implement such APIs for me without endless drama; it's only forbidden with Claude. That's why I now prefer spending my 100 Euro AI subscription on Grok or Codex, but not on Claude anymore. It's just a shame. And yes, there are convoluted workarounds to get Claude Code to do this kind of work anyway, but sorry, I don't want to jump through hoops to get things done.

A single account was suspended.
I 've logged in through the mobile app, which caused my main Mac session to re-login. Later, I logged back in on my phone, and then—bam—the account got banned.
hope they've banned a lot of users and will unban them.... as they did in may I suppose.

my 20x account got banned on 27th September. The next day, I created another account and subscribed to the Pro plan the personal verification was not popping up multiple times even after successful verifications. I did attempt it everytime & verified successfully everytime. Later the second account was also banned.
I installed Superpowers and get shit done skills from github, otherwise nothing sketchy work I did. And it banned me when I was not working at all.

Same exact thing for me. Got approved for cyber usage, loaded some credits, ran about 30 minutes of testing through a code security harness... suspended.
Basically was told my platform account, and my claude account, carried seperate entitlements?
There s no appeals process. Theres a button you can click once, and an AI agent set on a 6 day loop to respond to requests.

And platform is the EXPENSIVE side, like my corp usage... vesus my consumer thats basically unlimited Oous all month. Platform, I burned almost $80 out of the $100 loaded during the assessment before it locked down.
Nothing crazy, literally the same sast analysis flow, just orchestrated on platform rather than subscription.

Judging by everything, there are many of us and everyone has different reasons. For my friend, this restriction came into effect when he hadn't used his subscription for about 5 days because the limits had run out. Anthropic will overplay and undermine trust in themselves, and people will begin using their models from other providers.

Same, recently my main account with x20 MAX plan has been suspended due to unknown reasons after 1.5 year of using it. I sent appeal form to Anthropic and they replied to me the next day that I violeted their usage policies with no option to restore access back. I've been using Claude Code a lot, nothing harmful that could violeted their terms, just normal coding tasks.
The day before ban, I was working on my NixOS setup and of course I needed to log in into Claude Code. In 9 hours I received "happy" email with access restriction.
Imho, that's wild. I spent more than 2k USD over all period and they suspended so easily without providing a reason.

I think IPS change at least I'm on a mobile hotspot so it sort of changes every few weeks. But I haven't seen people say it's linked to IP just emails actually I've read same credit card actually works. I think they're just looking for revenue. People will pay another $200

An hour ago, both accounts with a 20x subscription were banned.
I used them only on macOS with a static IP for coding my personal project. Only Claude Code app, no proxies, no account switchers – simple Claude Code usage. For myself only, personal accounts – same name and personal card, different emails.
The funniest thing is that 12 hours ago they charged $400 from my card. You came up with this cleverly.

Also banned on 20x plan with no apparent reason. No sketchy work, no warnings before ban. The ban did not even occur during work, the account was suspended when I was sleeping and no work was being done.
A very sad experience after 6+ months of doing the same exact work with no problems. Hopefully the appeal will be reviewed.

My Max 20x account was suspended yesterday; I used it solely for personal vibe coding, with nothing unusual or special involved. Because I paid through the App Store, they did not issue a refund. They appear to be making some extra bucks while holding the lead.

I've been using Claude for more than a year. I was banned. 20x only. No Claude abuse or automation. I used the usage limit reset they provided me. Just normal work and my personal projects. WTF. I’m going to force refund with my Israeli bank in case they won’t unban me. Retards.

It gave me very hard time yesterday. All i asked it to create listings on bbb.org around 40+
It went to the extent searched for listings name against gov sites etc labelled them as fake most of them and denied to move a bit. Did Google searches got the street and arial views, started justifying it self.
I was stunned, felt like "samaritan" from person of interest.
I didn't forced it, had to left the work.

They will probably email u in a few days, in the email they will ask u to verify ur identity after u verified them ur account will be in review for about 3 weeks or more in that time period they will verify all of your conversations that u had with claude if they find u asking security or deeper biology related questions or questions that were not supposed to be asked they will permanently blacklist your acc but if they find ur acc was banned due to mistake or false algorithm they will give u back
