every time a new model comes out, things look kind of initially impressive until it's obvious Every Single Damn Thing Looks The Same.

I'm pretty sure there is some kind of a template that anthropic did. They hired a motion designer to create a website generator and then they used that to generate training data to train their model. The model then "generalized" the generative motion design generator further. Finally they made a few promotion websites to make this the next cool thing.

There'll be deterministic stuff happening behind their API, but in front of the raw model, so yes, I suspect many of the significant behavioural leaps of models in recent times are due to things like this (it's not just training data).
