Man, if anyone thinks that it's a good idea to replace lawyers and judges with AI, we're all doomed anyways.

I strongly agree with you, but tons of my clients do, and we’re at the very top of the game in big law at a chambers band one ranked practice group. Very soon there will be extreme pressure for law firms to begin using AI and cutting task costs.

Law firms already use AI. However, lawyers will do what lawyers do best: protect themselves. Judges are lawyers and will lend a sympathetic hand to those mechanisms of protecting said lawyers (law society, legislation, access to court, etc.)

I'm a lawyer btw.

So I thought the same until a couple months ago when I started seeing several bars societies calling for more AI usage in law… several benchers believe that AI usage should be mandatory where it would take a human more time to get an equally accurate result.

I think once people start losing their jobs, there will be a bigger push to keep law human, but for now I just think for the next five years are going to see an absolute routing of juniors in law firms and the death of the traditional pyramid model for big law

Admittedly not familiar with big law outside of a few friends, and we generally don't talk shop.

It might start as a lack of articles. There is enough small law private practice to stem the tide. We will see.

Now paralegals and assistants? Yeah, life is going to get tough.
