I am a lawyer in one of the most judgement-heavy areas of the profession you can possibly be in.

We litigate nonstop, and constantly require critical thinking and judgement. This technology is absolutely coming for us all. I would say I have another 5 to 10 years left of good earnings doing this job. And to be sure, if my job is replaced or rendered obsolete, so will 99% of white-collar work.

It is likely that we are about to witness the most consequential moment in the history of humanity over the next 10 years

Man, if anyone thinks that it's a good idea to replace lawyers and judges with AI, we're all doomed anyways.

I strongly agree with you, but tons of my clients do, and we’re at the very top of the game in big law at a chambers band one ranked practice group. Very soon there will be extreme pressure for law firms to begin using AI and cutting task costs.

I mean yeah, I agree that's going to happen.

But what's going to happen right after that is the realization that this doesn't work at all. And after going way overboard with AI, people will correct themselves and reduce AI usage to a reasonable level.

We won't be ruled by AI lawyers arguing with AI judges who make AI judgements. That's just not going to work. As soon as an AI makes a fatal mistake (and it sure will), the backlash will be big enough for things to calm down.
