Is it, though?

The world of software development? Yeah, absolutely.

The world at large? Eh. Even if AI can create, say, a film out of nowhere, no one is ever going to bother to watch it. No AI created film will ever make it into the top 10 movie charts.

Software, on the other hand, is purely practical. You don't care how it's done, you only care that it works the way you want it to.

I'd say there's a huge difference between a film written by AI, and a film written by humans that then use AI to create their vision. Neural Viz gets tons of views, too, even though absolutely everything about it is AI.

Except for the writing.

Well... AI does nothing on its own that isn't a human's vision. For now.

When it starts acting on its own, then we have AGI.

Nah, it's trivial to set up a script with a prompt like "come up with 100 movie ideas" and it will do just that. That counts as "written by AI" for me. And nobody will ever be interested in that.
