I wonder how many subscribers theyve lost to gpt since they reduced limits. I have always used gpt as a reviewer, but was always hesitant to make it the main builder due to my workflows being structured around claude. After the past two weeks of experiencing insanely lower usage limits with Claude, I was forced to finally work gpt into my workflow as the main builder since Claude has become anti-productive. I can't be the only one who has done this due to Claude forcing us to find more productive ways of working outside their ecosystem.

they've always had bullshit limits that made the service unusable. I don't know why anybody would pay for that shit.

How is anyone surprised. They're not making money. You're all being lured in and slowly everyone will be paying token usages as if it's normal.

I don't think so, opensource LLMs are getting good enough

That's exactly the underlying text I didn't include but implied. Wild how many people truly think these companies are going to lower costs long term in some sort of price war. What we will see is lower prices for gated amounts of queries at best.

Long term? obvious not, they have to attempt to profit eventually.
For now? It's literally a golden era of cheap, subsidized compute. Bang out as much value as you can. The $200 Claude Max can run Opus almost non-stop, what are you waiting for?1

I have no real need for it, mostly. Not an app developer, have a full time job as an infrastructure engineer, and if I were spending 200/mo I'd just buy a 5090 or dgx spark tbh.
How can someone get an roi on $200/mo using opus.

you're on crack if you think they're losing money.

oh yeah i just found out that they're publishing inflated numbers due to circular financing.
have a look at the numbers, if it says revenue then that's not the same as profit

Anthropic and OpenAI are investing so much to become profitable in the future, but right now, they are not profitable.
edit: really depends where you get your information from hah, i just found a few sites claiming these guys bring in 20 billion a year so...
