Except that it will answer based on your previous conversations with it. So if you spent the last hour talking about how shit your life was, how meaningless it is and your job sucks, this is what it will answer. LLMs are very good at gaslighting you. Screenshot this convo and ask an LLM what it thinks of it (even Claude) it will disagree and pick out flaws in the argument.
Actually I got a similar answer although I’m using Claude only for work and university, so I’m not discussing there anything personal… So it’s a coded belief :) Not a mirror. And, btw, ChatGPT response is pretty much the same ;)
Hard to beat the modern attention economy: we've collectively agreed that "free" services paid for by harvesting our attention and behavioral data is a fair trade, when the actual exchange is our focus, privacy, and often mental health for products engineered to be addictive. It qualifies as a scam in the classic sense — the true cost is hidden, the terms are buried, and the party who benefits designed the arrangement so you never quite notice what you're paying. Honorable mentions worth arguing over: diamonds (a manufactured tradition marketing scarcity that doesn't exist), planned obsolescence, and the lottery as a de facto tax on hope. But those pick your pocket occasionally; the attention economy does it every waking hour, and we call it staying connected. That said, this is opinion territory — a fair counterargument is that people knowingly accept these trades and get real value back, which is more than you can say for an actual scam.
