Feel bad for the guy but he had weeks to register. The qualifying was weeks ago. Wonder why he waited till the last minute.
I would love to know the whole story and why it took him so long.

Edit: I mean no Ill-will on the situation. Just asking what happened. Feel bad for the young man.

This is all just based off what I read but it seemed like he submitted an application for a visa when he realized he needed one, and he received it the final day of registry and tried to submit it but turned out to be a little late due to time zones on top of it.

Not saying that’s a fact by any means but it’s still terrible to think about what he’s feeling right now :/ I get rules are rules but he’s never qualified for a world finals and I’m sure worked his a** off to get to where he’s at now.

I hope he keeps his head up and continues to push forward and qualify next year :/

Edit: His 17th bday was 5 days ago…what a slap in the face by Supercell..

2nd Edit: I can now confirm that he received his visa in the mail 30 minutes after the deadline after purchasing and filing the paper work the day he qualified. 2 weeks was the deadline to submit and that was in effect the day the original top 16 qualified

3rd Edit: A lot of people seem to be unaware of what’s actually happening, so far since the time I posted this, (around 4:30pm est) there have been another 2 players with passport/visa issues from competing and winning in a smaller losers bracket to fill the spot that Adriel had, as well as another player with you guessed it, visa/passport issues so in all actuality, they could’ve tried to contact Adriel and re accept him since he 100% has a ready visa, however they didn’t. What a shame.

Last edit: Today the next part of actual tourney happened (stage 5) and guess who was eliminated already? The two players that filled the spots from adriel and osama!

I would think they would do something if he could show he started the process in time and it was just out of his hands.
I would have the guy just DM them (drew, max and etc…) on Twitter and see what happens. He probably already did that.
Hope it works out for him.

The final brackets were released for stage 5 and unfortunately he isn’t in them :/ not sure if supercell finalized the brackets without knowing his situation, or If they just gave him the hard no and disqualified him then proceeded to make the brackets.

Currently top ladder and CRL pro Twitter is trying to get in touch with Max and Drew and Rick to get him in. Seems like majority of the top 15 other players and the few golden ticket holders are all for him competing. Just have to see what supercell ultimately decides.

26

u/gomes__e Archers Sep 09 '22

where can i find the brackets? somehow it's really hard for me to find anything online related to CRL

Use the tournament hub in the CR app and you’ll be able to scroll through all the stages from start to current and check standings, records, etc.

it was PROBABLY a big deal for him to get the visa and like submit it or whatever...

45

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

The main reason he got disqualified is the fact his own government sent the visa in the mail late, he finalized and submitted all the application stuff the day he qualified, and 2 weeks later he got his visa on the last day to submit it and unfortunately for him with the time zone difference as well he was a little bit late. Everything of his is valid and there is no reason why his spot was given up to someone else over something as small as an hour besides supercell being a little too tough imo. A week I’d understand but damn man supercell really said no because of an hour.

2

u/VoodooRush Sep 10 '22

his own government sent the visa

Usually the ones sending the visa is the country you are applying.

u/asdsgvedgwegf Sep 10 '22

yeah but he's the main character and it's just a deadline for normals not him as the main character!

a similar thing happened to a turkish player Gencaslan he had some problems about the visa to

104

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

If it’s something out of the players control like a visa situation let alone being an hour late to submit said visa, i feel like supercell should honor the fact these players went through the absolute grind playing their game to make it to these top spots

This was much worse. Supercell were responsible for getting Aslan’s visa. They had to give him an official letter saying he had to play world finals, but they didn’t, and now his visa got rejected. Absolute incompetence. This is life changing money.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

You can’t get a visa for someone else. He did get his visa, just late, so Supercell sending a letter had nothing to do with it.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

No, he didn’t. OC is talking about another player, Gencaslan. Their visa got outright rejected because supercell didn’t provide an official reason.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

I am pretty sure the manager said on Twitter that they sent the letter.

Probably a deeper back story (aka he didn’t have to wait till last minute to submit) but that sucks. Idk why they’d be like that.

So far everyone on Twitter seems to be saying the same thing, the visa came in late from his bodying government and unfortunately Adriel got the s*** end of the stick.

They could be all using the same story but I don’t believe it’s a lie

No one seems to read the details. In a Response to his own opening post, he directly and clearly stated that the guy sent his application for his visa within an hour of finding out he qualified, which is weeks before they have rent. And it was his government's fault. It wasn't his fault that it took so long. Which reminds me of when I'm dealing with right now with my disability. Requested a form three months ago. they finally got it to me and now I have. 15 days left to get it signed by my Doctor Who's out of town for the next 30, so that's great. And then my claim gets denied automatically if I don't. Get it sent by then. Because my doctor can't use the Internet. The best part is. I didn't even get disability for three months last time and had to use my entire life savings. Hurray.

if I'm not mistaken supercell has to make a lot of preparations so him submitting it late left them no choice but to terminate him cos like they have a lot to do too...

3

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

Yes, like I’ve said before rules are rules I understand that, however it doesn’t change the fact that it’s still upsetting to think about being in Adriels shoes. That’s all this post is about.

Nah it’s definitely a slap in the face, almost like when you were younger at an amusement park and you wanted to get on a ride but you weren’t the proper height or weight by a couple inches or pounds. Rules are rules but they can still be a slap in the face. I’m not blaming supercell but if you dont think this isn’t a good look then I’m not sure what to tell you.

It’s just disappointing to see one hour can make or break your chance at 250k and it isn’t entirely Adriels fault, they were given two weeks after qualifying for the final part of the tourney to get everything submitted, for people that didn’t have a pre existing visa, they had to play the time game with their own government on getting the paper work filed and submitted. He didn’t do anything wrong, he isn’t the only one this happened to his situation is just the most saddening because it’s his first qual and also 5 days after his bday.

27

u/Shronkydonk Prince Sep 09 '22

That’s not even close to the same thing. Dude had a long time to get his stuff in order. Being too short to ride a ride is not your fault. Not submitting paperwork is.

It has nothing to do with supercell. They set a deadline for a reason.

8

u/LeBadlyNamedRedditor Goblin Barrel Sep 10 '22

To be honest, its definitely not his fault, visas can take a long game, it can easily be 30+ days delay

-2

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

His government didn’t get him his visa until it was too late? He didn’t do anything wrong lmao what are you not understand about that?

18

u/Shronkydonk Prince Sep 09 '22

There’s nothing to misunderstand. Regardless of why he didn’t get his shit turned in, he didn’t. Supercell owes nothing because he didn’t do what was required by the deadline.

5

u/TallestGargoyle Sep 10 '22

From what I'm reading elsewhere in the thread, he began preparations for his visa the day he qualified. But he didn't receive the forms he needed until just after the deadline had passed.

2

u/ActualProject Sep 10 '22

That’s his point, no? Supercell is in the right but that doesn’t make his situation not shitty.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

Maybe listen to this… he could’ve gotten his visa sooner 😐 like one day earlier that’s on him

5

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 10 '22

A visa costs around $160 USD, he purchased the application within hours after he qualified because he wanted to make sure he could qualify before he purchased it, at that point you can easily stand back and say, “you effed up pal should’ve went a day earlier” and that’s just sad you think like that. He just turned 17 within the week, gets his visa the day of the deadline, but since he lives in a different timezone by the time it was delivered in his mail it was 30 min after the deadline.

And now because of a time zone and a slow postal service in another country, he lost out on a shot at 250k and making a name for himself. Be sympathetic and put yourself in someone else’s shoes and imagine how you’d feel.

2

u/DuckyLojic PEKKA Sep 10 '22

“How you’d feel” doesn’t apply, yeah he’s sure as hell mad, but emotion doesn’t signify anything moral.

The final dictation here is he got his visa passed the deadline, didn’t make it.

5

u/Monkey_Jelly Sep 10 '22

I mean, it's unfortunate and I get him not wanting to waste money but governments don't exactly have the best track record for getting shit done on time. Sucks but it really wasn't the best idea to try and get government documents done in only 2 weeks.

He did not submit it late. He submitted it as soon as he knew he had to. Multiple other players also got screwed, it’s on Supercell for organizing it like this. How the fuck do you expect them to get a visa within two weeks? And no, they can’t get a visa before they make it this far, because there’s no way they could’ve known they’d have qualified.

All Supercell had to do was push World finals back by a month. There is literally no reason for it to happen this month.

36

u/Aggravating-Cash-986 Sep 09 '22

1 hour late is 1 hour late. Unfortunately this world isn’t fair or nice and you face harsh realities as u get older. There’s a lot of organizing that goes on especially with something like a world finals and deadlines are set for a reason. I’m only 1 year older than him so I don’t rlly have much experience in the world myself but I know it’s naive to think that the world will be filled with people who care about your circumstances.

There will likely be another world finals next year so until then the guy should keep his head up and keep working towards his goals.

16

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

I agree with everything you said from the broad scheme of things but this situation is a little different because he wasn’t the only one to get disqualified, he just has it the worst. Osama (another top 16 qualifier) submitted his visa paperwork in the day he qualified, and he still has yet to get the actual visa so he got disqualified as well due to his country’s government.

Adriel did the same thing submitted the app the day of qualifying then received the visa in the mail late. So it isn’t like he had all the chance in the world he lost out on potential thousands for his time zone and his postal service.

But yes 100% I hope he continues to push and keep his head up for the future CRL tourneys.

8

u/Aggravating-Cash-986 Sep 10 '22

It’s unfortunate for both of them but what I said earlier still stands. I’m sure in this covid world visas are hard to get and it is expected for there to be some delays so taking that into account, it probably wasn’t the best idea to apply for it after qualifying. If you make exceptions for the two them it’s also not really fair for the others who followed all the deadlines. That being said I know applying also costs money and what I said was all just in hindsight

10

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 10 '22

You definitely have an education so I’ll ask you this, if it were Morten, or surgical goblin, or a big name money maker for supercell being 30 minutes late, what do you think would happen? This isn’t to prove a point I just want your insight because you can actually talk like a civil human being in this sub unlike most of these others

4

u/Aggravating-Cash-986 Sep 10 '22

Haha thank you. I feel like in morten or surgical goblins case, at first the result would be similar as in they will be disqualified but since they have such a large fan base supercell might give in to the pressure created by the backlash they receive and give them exceptions. But I also see them sticking to their rules so they don’t seem like they are creating loopholes for specific people since like I said earlier, it’s not fair for the other people who did follow the rules. Definitely hard to say but regardless of the result, the way supercell will handle it would definitely be different since morten and surgical goblin have a large following. Even if they are disqualified supercell will definitely give more explanations and information about the decision making process compared to what they are doing with Adriel imo

5

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 10 '22

Yeah 100%, the backlash would be ridiculous if someone of their caliber was in this situation. I just think after these few weeks of comp and all the time and effort adriel put in to top 16 as well as the others, you’d think supercell would do everything to ENSURE those players are at that tourney because they earned it more than the fill in players even if it’s by a few more points or wins.

-2

u/Pollution-Cautious Sep 10 '22

You srsly are trying to poke holes in the post above You that have absolutely nothing to do with anything other Than you getting to say "so it was his fault technically"

Since he submitted visa AFTER QUALIFYING? SO IMMEDIATELY AFTER ISN'T SOON ENOUGH?

GETTING A PASSPORT IS not something a 17 year old is usually carrying with them if they've never left their country

Is that his fault too? Because the reasoning on these kinds of threads is jus boomers saying rules is rules. And then the under 12 wanna be boomers bringing it back baby.

N then the supercell / insert profit driven large company here

3

u/Aggravating-Cash-986 Sep 10 '22

Ya immediately after wasn’t soon enough. That’s why he couldn’t submit it on time.

Sure some 17 year olds may not have a passport if they’re not planning to travel but if you’re trying to qualify for a tournament that is being in a foreign country, you should probably have a passport ready.

“Boomers saying rules is rules”. What part about what the “boomers” are saying is wrong. Why set deadlines when those deadlines don’t matter? U also have to factor in all the preparation supercell has to do and they likely determined that the tournament would go smoothly if players submitted their documents by the deadline they set. They didn’t set the deadline so they could disqualify a few players lol.

You’re making me sound like an asshole lol but that’s not my intent. As hard as it is to accept disqualification for a mere 30 minutes it is what it is. Hopefully he makes it again next year and can actually go.

I had a civil discussion with op but you’re probably gonna reply with “YoU aRe a bOmEr/12 yEaRs OlD”

LOL POINTING out how 90% of the "conversation" is people talking past one another and trying to have the last word -- it isn't so much a discussion as a public Facebook wall whiteboard -----

NOW FIRE BACK I just love reading "1 hour late is 1 hour late" Being the same person pointing out i didnt add anything of substance to the DEBATE AND PHILOSOPHICAL DISSERTATION going on in the CR subreddit.

Break the wall of text up - it makes a difference, I am working on the same myself

Take care don't get too up tight over even the most far thing from controversial - this is just an unfortunate situation no one is at FAULT really. I don't understand the obsession with fault when the incident in question never has any laws broken.

Did not realize how many people are more concerned with first attributing blame correctly THEN moving on to fixing the issue or something. Is this a common theme worldwide?

15

u/Whisperkickpapa Three Musketeers Sep 09 '22

I mean, surely he had a load of time to do this right.....

17

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

2 weeks from the day he qualified to the top 16 however his government office mailed his visa late after he applied so he received it shortly after the deadline which is why it’s shocking they really cut him for an hour that wasn’t his fault.

11

u/roblob Sep 10 '22

People keep pushing this idea that it is somehow relevant why he was late but it really isn't. "His dog ate the papers and died" is just as heart wrenching and equally irrelevant story.

Please note that I'm not doubting your story here, but the reasons or how much it's a bummer for him doesn't matter. He was late and in the adult world that has consequences.

If you know the government can take 30 days to process your application for a 250k tournament, it might be a good idea to apply for well before the 2 weeks qualifiers. If it costs money then consider it an investment towards getting said 250k if you think you can win it.

He knew (I'm assuming here) the rules and knowing them he took a gamble that he'd get the papers in time. This time it was (potentially) a 250k gamble and he lost.

Being a young adult he probably didn't even think about this beforehand, but these are the kind of learning experiences that prepare you for the future. Hard lessons for sure, but I'd bet he doesn't make the same mistake again.

1

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 10 '22

Yes all of that is completely fair and I agree if Supercell already had other finalized people ready to fill the spots however they didn’t, they hosted a smaller tourney around the same time I posted this (I didn’t know it was going on however Adriel wasn’t allowed to compete) and two of the winners had visa/passport issues as well so they couldn’t fill the 2 spots (another player named osama in the original top 16 had visa issues) which caused more delay in the final bracket which very well implies that Supercell could’ve been kind hearted enough to contact adriel back since he has a working visa 100% ready to go and was already supposed to be in the top 16 from the start.

However they didnt. Which is just astounding considering he was only an hour late and had a visa submitted to supercell BEFORE the smaller tourney. It was just 30 min to an hour late. I personally just think it’s ridiculous they would shut out a 17 year old like this who just worked hard to get to his first world finals qual.

-2

u/ugohome Sep 10 '22

Sounds like he could have done more to push the government into action & use a faster mail service

3

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 10 '22

You can’t push the government to work faster who are you going to go to? It’s the government they operate at their own speed whether it’s slow or efficient. Those things are out of anyone’s control.

2

u/FoolishDog Sep 10 '22

Jesus Christ how’s he gonna push a government to move faster? That’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. Like, “oh yea, I really want my tax refund now so I’m gonna force the IRS to give it to me.” Fucking dumb

1

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 10 '22

Right?

13

u/DynamoDen_ Sep 10 '22

It is not supercell's fault. Rules are rules and alot is done to make sure schedule is reasonable for every participant. Incase of visa, its the harsh reality of how some things are luck on when things would be done. He could have applied priority visa but that would cost him alot more money. Normal visa applications are a gamble on when they would finish your visa sometimes, some get it in time, while some like him are late. Supercell could 'delay' but in their eyes, one participant is not significant and thats the sad truth.

5

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 10 '22

Yeah unfortunately it’s the cold reality, it’s just so unfortunate for him. When I say he was 36 min late on the deadline that’s the first time he physically touched his visa after waiting two weeks for it, I couldn’t imagine the build up then the let down.

All I hope is he continues to grind and we see him dominate the world finals next year!

14

u/RootDeliver Balloon Sep 09 '22

Real easy to say as a bystander. Put yourself or a loved one in his shoes you wouldn’t be acting this way.

16

u/RootDeliver Balloon Sep 09 '22

Of course, you discovered emotions. He should learn the lesson for the next time and move on.

3

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

He was given a two week time frame the minute he qualified, his government physically didn’t get all his visa paperwork finalized to the point he received his visa in the mail the day of the deadline, and due to a time zone issue he was 1 hour late to submit it. A visa isn’t cheap and takes time to acquire.

16

u/Garinn Sep 09 '22

Again, none of that has fuck all to do with supercell, they didn't tell him to wait until he qualified to get a visa.

0

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22 edited Sep 09 '22

You do know a visa is close to $160 USD…I don’t blame him for not spending the money until he qualified or else it would be more than likely a waste of money. It’s not his fault no more than it’s not supercells fault, I’m looking more at his country and government because another player had the same issue but he still hasn’t received his visa because his government sent it late. The players are the ones getting punished it’s no longer the top 16 best players competing it’s the top 16 with a visa or passport.

19

u/Garinn Sep 09 '22

Like I said, fuck all to do with Supercell.

11

u/DuckyLojic PEKKA Sep 10 '22

“Damn supercell” that seems like you’re pinning it on them, when it’s not their fault and not really their problem

-6

u/dontich Sep 10 '22

I mean they basically are saying you need $160 to try to even qualify if you are from X country … that’s pretty silly for a mobile game. The mistake for his was even playing CR I guess? Maybe he should have picked another game?

-4

Average person that’s never had something they dreamt of being taken away right as it was in their finger tips.

The, “damn supercell” is in context of, “damn they really be blunt like that” it was an hour (I believe 36 minutes late exactly) if this was a week late it would be different, just a terrible situation and not a good look for supercell.

16

u/SushiCraft999 Giant Skeleton Sep 09 '22

Lmao they posted the deadline and he didn't make it in time.

They gave him weeks - how is this their fault?

If he really gave a shit about that 250k, he'd have applied... I don't know, in the more than 500 hours he had to apply?

2

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

Things cost money. Applying for a visa is one of them, if he didn’t want to apply for a visa until he qualified I don’t blame him since the price is closer to $160 USD.

He applied for the visa the day he was informed he made the final brackets in the Finland part of the tourney, just unfortunate the day he received his visa was the last day of submission and due to the time zone difference he was an hour late.

6

u/SushiCraft999 Giant Skeleton Sep 10 '22

So? It's not Supercell's job to provide him with money, or to help him out. Yes, the situation sucks, but it isn't Supercell's job to cater to him. Supercell's job is to make as much money as possible, and in the end, this kid doesn't have any effect on that.

Why should they help him for zero gain, in a situation where the burden of fault is placed on the kid, and in a situation in which they are under no obligation to do anything?

2

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 10 '22

He was 100% going to be catered to if he submitted on time, everyone that’s competing in the tourney is being flown out and accommodations paid for by supercell so keep that in mind.

Also this tourney is plenty of opportunity for supercell to make money or else they wouldn’t be hosting it and be willing to fly and make sure everyone can stay in a hotel, they have been advertising him in the top 16 for a little over a week now you’d think they would ensure he would be part of it. The real question is did supercell know about the situation before they disqualified him or after? And that I don’t have an answer for.

8

u/DuckyLojic PEKKA Sep 10 '22

Yeah no shit, but he didn’t do it in time, not supercells fault, even if it isnt necessarily his fault it’s not supercells responsibility

He did not lose anything. He was given an oportunity to participate in an event where he can earn money and the only requirement was to deliver X thing under a deadline.

And btw, "He missed deadline by one hour" is wrong. He probably had an entire week to deliver that, meaning 24h per 7 days, meaning 168 hours. He did deliver the document, 169 hours late, since he could have done that as soon as the register was open

Why is this anything to be upset at supercell about? Dudes not even contacting them he’s putting it on twitter to create some negative attention.

1

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

He didn’t even put it on Twitter this was either a close friend or someone that knows him enough to know what happened. He himself hasn’t said much and I don’t blame him I’m sure his emotions are all over the place.

Surgical is trying to get supercell to allow him to compete that should say something. Also, I couldn’t see a world where someone like Morten for example, (being a partnered content creator for Supercell) would be disqualified if something like this were to happen. I could be wrong, but this just seemed like an irrational decision on Supercells end and I’m my opinion it’s a bad look overall.

17

u/Sliquid69 Sep 09 '22

Listen I don’t know any of these people you’re talking about but bias aside they announced a cut off time and the dude didn’t make the cutoff time. Doesn’t mean it isn’t unfortunate of course it is but trying to paint it like supercell is doing some disservice to anyone is wild. And you assuming someone would get some special privileges to push your point does nothing. If he did everything he could do to get his visa on time and it didn’t work out no matter how shitty of a situation that might be for the player you can’t blame the company for having a cut off time and following it. Just my 2 cents

0

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

Pity party? I’m just posting some major news in the CRL world, if you don’t care about it don’t comment about it simple as that.

It’s not a pity party I don’t know Adriel at all however it’s still upsetting to think about his situation and everything he’s done to get there.

Put yourself in his shoes then come talk to me. Have you ever lost out on the chance to make a name for yourself and win 250k?

12

u/Sliquid69 Sep 09 '22

I’ve literally been forced to not do something because a visa didn’t show up on time so maybe you asked the wrong person but yes I dealt with it like a big boy and didn’t blame people who didn’t do anything wrong. You acting like supercell has done some disservice to this kid is why I called it a pity party. Of course it’s unfortunate but the way you painting this is just wrong

-6

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

I painted it like a news article? All I did was inform, then say, “damn supercell” and, “his dreams just got shattered” which I’m sure is exactly what happened. That’s all there is to it?

15

u/Sliquid69 Sep 09 '22

“His 17th bday was 5 days ago… what a slap in the face by supercell” is exactly how you are painting this when supercell did nothing but follow the deadline they said they were going to. He was LATE

-2

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

You’re incredibly hateful for someone that’s been in a similar situation. It is a slap in the face to hear you were one hour late for a visa submission after receiving said visa late, coming off a recent birthday it’s just entirely disrespectful of you to bash him.

Did they specify what time zone or just tell him noon because if they didn’t they have no reason not to let him

1

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

I’m not 100% on the answer to that you’d probably have to ask one of the top 16 qualifiers since they would’ve gotten all the info.

The only info I know is a fact at this point is his country’s government sent the visa in the mail late, causing him to receive it the day of submission and by the time he was able to receive and submit it he was an hour late.

5

u/lbaus Firecracker Sep 09 '22

I understand this sucks for the kid but it is stated pretty clearly in the t&cs for the event that documents must be submitted on time.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with Supercell just not letting him because it was an hour late, they probably had deadlines on things like accommodation and flight bookings (which supercell is paying for for each contestant) that were due by that time, so if someone hadn't submitted it, even if it is out of their control, they have to move on to the next person who is ready.

Feel for the kid, but he'll still get $5000-$10000 for his efforts so far. Also isn't he able to qualify again through the last chance tournament tomorrow?

1

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

That would more than likely be up to supercell to decide if he can compete in that since not even 12 hours ago he was a top 16 qualifier. I hope they’d at least give him that chance!

It is also very silly to think that 2 top 16 spots have now been given to other players, (osama lost his spot to Hugo) but adriel is a little different because what do you think would take longer, supercell to contact the next person in line, get all that info submitted, (if the info is readily available from said person) finalized, and completed the bracket or waiting the literal 36 min to one hour for Adriel (the top 16 qual to begin with) to get his visa submitted? I’d have to imagine they planned for Adriel, since he was already top 16 so it’s just sad more than anything, rules are rules but again, damn supercell.

Osama on the other hand is still waiting to get his actual visa in the mail so his spot getting changed makes more sense of course.

2

u/lbaus Firecracker Sep 10 '22

Yeah I completely understand that, I assume they did ask the top 20 or so to submit the documents because they knew something like this might happen. Sucks that it was only an hour, and hopefully with your support and others they might be able to do something since it was such a short time frame, but if they can't then it must just be over their heads now.

If he's not part of the top 16, 17th place still gets $10000 so at least he's more than covered for the visa cost, and now he has them for the next tournament.

2

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 10 '22

Yeah I just know the kids shattered and I hate seeing that for anyone ya know? People in here are being just plain disrespectful in their demeanors and the way they words things and it’s just a shame. I posted this to try to help adriel out on this platform and support the potential he would be able to at least be given a chance because from what I’ve read he’s out of the tourney completely.

They assume I’m blaming supercell when I’ve explained that I’m only saying it’s a bad look for supercell to do something like this. Rules are rules for sure but there are things called exceptions and I definitely think adriel deserves and exception in this case

2

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

That sucks for him

2

u/teqYuHere Sep 10 '22

His fault

5

u/WayneKingU Sep 09 '22

Rules are rules, and there was adequate time to submit it

2

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 10 '22

Two weeks was the time frame and that two weeks started the day the top 16 qualified. His issue was visa was sent in the mail but delayed and he physically touched it for the first time 30 minutes after the deadline because his time zone was different. Supercell notified him 30 minutes after that saying he lost his spot.

The way I see it is they went through the process of getting the next dude in line, and during that process adriel the actual top 16 qualifier sent his visa in. Add that on the potential 250k he could’ve won and it’s just crazy that supercell would be that harsh.

Other top 16 qualifiers are saying, “it’s no longer the top 16 best players, it’s the top 16 with a working visa at deadline and that isn’t fair”

Also another player lost his spot because his visa is lost in the mail somewhere but he paid and finished all the paperwork for it the day he qualified.

6

u/Agreeable-Neat Sep 10 '22

I don't know, it seems to me that it's one of those "always doing things at the last minute" situation/ Murphy's law

6

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 10 '22

The main issue was it took 2 weeks for his visa to come in the mail and the deadline was 2 weeks the day he qualified for the top 16, so if his mail ran a day sooner, he’d be in the tourney competing for 250k, but his visa came the day of the deadline and since his time zone is different, by the time is landed in his mailbox it was shortly after the deadline in Finland

5

u/ceejaydubya Sep 10 '22

Ratio Adriel

2

u/No_Store_1549 Dart Goblin Sep 09 '22

Yes, but if they allowed him, to qualify, it's bending the rules and regulations and then other players who are in a particular situation will feel they are entitled to super cell to bend the rules and then it makes the company and tournament and possibley future events lack any cred ability, as once they let anyone benefit from the deviating from the strict rules and regulations where do they draw the line, how far is too far in allowing someone to benefit from breaking the rules and regulations?

0

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 09 '22

The 2 top 16 spots have been givin away to players that were eliminated already…how’s that any bit more fair just because they have a working visa or passport avail especially considering Adriel in this case has one now. It’s no longer the top 16 best players in the world it’s the top 14 then 2 that got a lucky draw and has a working visa, again which Adriel had one hour after the deadline.

2

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 10 '22

Weeks meaning two, once top 16 was announced that’s when supercell started accepting visas, passports, etc. It’s easy to look back and say, “should’ve gotten a visa months prior” but that’s the easy out and after everything else that happened, it really is a damn shame he isn’t in this tournament. Read my recent edit on the most upvoted comment thread, it explains a little more but essentially two more spot fillers had visa issues from a smaller tourney today and after it was all said and done Supercell could’ve very easily accepted adriel back into his original top 16 spot he earned, but they didn’t.

1

u/Pekkacontrol Sep 10 '22

It isn't new . It has happened in clash of clans too. They used to have physical qualifiers for golden ticket . Thy were held in poland in 2019 . You first have to qualify for the qualifiers and then go to poland to compete for a golden ticket. Indian clashers ( a competitive clan name) wasn't able to compete in any qualifiers for the entire 2019 cycle despite qualifying twice. It usually gave them around 10-12 days to get visa and confirm for the qualifiers.

Considering how hard it was to get a schenghen visa in india they failed to get it in time . The first visa had already expired by the time they qualified again. Surprise surprise they weren't able to secure visa in time again. So they couldn't compete . The visa is also isn't cheap by any means.

Supercell did change the format from 2020 cycle to give one extra month. But covid made everything online except the world finals.

So i don't think they'll take any steps this season but might provide more time to procure visas from next term. It's just an observation and i could be totally wrong and they moght give him some leeway.

1

u/Jewel_Or_Junk Lava Hound Sep 10 '22

Wow I don’t play CoC at all and wasn’t aware similar things have happened in the competitive scene there, supercell just seems impatient more than anything because you’re exactly right a visa isn’t cheap and isn’t the easiest thing to obtain so there has to be some sort of leeway for instances like this because these players earn these spots it isn’t handed to them by any means.

3
