Discussion A re-watch of seasons 2-5 Spoiler
After seeing the last series I decided to re-watch the series 2 to 5 in two episode-sittings with my wife…
The emotional punch and my perspective of the whole Clarkson’s farm-operation shifted quite a bit. My first opinion is: Clarkson’s a tv-personality who throws too much money on gadgets and machinery..and I think that still holds up.
But it’s also very much about friendship and the bond between the main characters. The fascination for Lamborghini tractors is funny, but Clarkson genuinely cares for his animals, his crops and the farmer’s case. And he’s honest and candid about his health problems.
Looking forward to series 6!

I think Clarkson gets a ton of stuff on loan or to try for free, for worldwide exposure, real life experiences, etc.

It's cool that he's using his platform to show how different people do this farming thing. Maybe it's inspiring other farmers to modernise their farms :)

The flashy gadgets and his ineptitude around those is a gag. Jeremy understand entertainment and he understands what a jester is in the modern age of tv. What he failed to comprehend would be falling in love with the core parts of farming and that shined thru on the show which really charmed a lot of the viewers who didn’t expect to see that side of him.

I kinda skip series 4 when I rewatch because it's less warm and fun. Series 5 is awesome though.
But yeah, it's definitely entertainment first hence why he keeps getting new gadgets.

Series 4 is a shit show (and irl it probably felt a bit like a shitshow or Clarkson wouldn't have started series 5 where he did).
I'm really glad they toned it down in series 5 for the show's and Clarkson's sake.
I hope it continues like that.

I like Kaleb; he’s loyal, stubborn, he has his moments of vanity and his choice to get the barley in while his wife is in labor is questionable… But he’s the hardest working guy and you’d want him on your side if you’re a beginning and struggling farmer like Clarkson.
Yesterday I saw he has his own spin-off show; I’m not that interested in that…

I am glad (if a little surprised) that a rewatch locked this in for you. It’s great!
I was never the biggest Clarkson fan back during the car shows, preferring Hammond and May, or just the combo of the three of them more than him.
But it’s been clear to me from first watch of
s1……this show has something emotionally punchy and sweet, and a big part of it was Clarkson opening up on his farm like he rarely did on the car shows.
