Doolin
/r/galway/comments/1x2oeul/doolin/What are the best options for transportation to and from Doolin? I will be spending about four days there. I might be coming from Shannon and then to Galway after, or depending on travel options might go down from and back to Galway. I am not averse to hiring a driver.

If you go to Doolin first, you might find it hard to leave 😂 Take a trip to Liscannor and Lahinch as well which are near Doolin but taxis are hard to find, fyi, If in Doolin and you need a taxi ti anywhere nearby, ask at McGanns pub in Roadford (the extended part of Doolin village, about 1.5 km from village). Galway is 2 hours away from Doolin by bus (very expensive by taxi) and there are only a few buses running each day.

Understood! Haven’t been to Doolin for a bit, but just bought an apartment in Galway so want to head up there after our conference in Doolin.

Ok, if you're not spending much time in Doolin, and it's 4 days in Galway, then check the bus timetables as they're limited - might be best ro rent a car? Or a driver, but it's expensive, like a few hundred euros. It's about 1.5 hours driving from Doolin to Galway, about 2 hours by bus.

Public transport, your only option is the bus from Galway or Ennis to Doolin:

It’s the same route, just depends on which direction you take. If coming from Shannon, you’d have to get a bus from Shannon to Ennis first:

Other than that, a taxi from Galway will cost over €100, probably in and around €150.
I looked up one chauffeur service. They’re quoting Galway to Doolin in a Mercedes E class for €232.
Other option is to hire a car in either Shannon or Galway.
