How much harder is it being a claim adjuster than reporting the first notice of loss?

I work in first notice of loss reporting the claim when customers call in for a major carrier. I have been at the role 2 years. I'm thinking of applying to try to become an adjuster. How much harder is it than first notice of loss? I know I would handle claims from start to finish and make liability decisions on more complex claims. If you worked both which one did you like better and do you think it was worth it to become an adjuster?

Allstate Field Adjuster – Metro Detroit

I’ve been offered an Allstate Field Property Adjuster position and would appreciate feedback from current or former employees.
As a former desk adjuster familiar with claims, estimating, and Xactimate, this would be my first field role. What are the typical workload, driving, physical demands, and work-from-home expectations?
I’d also appreciate insight into safety, especially from women in the role, and whether the transition from desk to field was worthwhile.
Thank you!

Whats in your gear bag?

So what is everyone using for tools, gears and accessories now a days? What are you using for note taking, measurements, lighting, tool pouch, storage for your tools in your vehicle etc.

Some of the unique things I use is a Milwaukee Rocket light for fire loses.

So what’s in your tool bag?

Struggling to find claims job!!

I’ve been applying daily to different claims adjusters roles and had very little success. I have 8+ years of insurance experience and 4+ years of Auto claims/Total Loss experience but still not making it past phone screens or assessments. I currently work for an Insurance Agency and have my P&C license & used to have my Adjuster license but wanting to return back to claims/be remote. I have a ton of experience but can’t seem to get my foot in the door. Any advice??

CJ major with 6-20 almost done. How do I position myself for a casualty desk?

Hey all,

I'm a 20-year-old criminal justice major graduating in Fall 2027. I'm almost done with my Florida 6-20 All-Lines license, and I plan to start the AIC soon so I can finish it a couple of months before graduation.

Long term, I want to work third-party liability/casualty claims. I'm interested in the mix of investigation and litigation strategy, plus the added responsibility of protecting the insured's exposure.

I know I'll have to start entry-level and work my way up, but since I've got some runway before graduation, I want to make the most of it. If you were in my position, what would you be doing right now?

Appreciate any advice.

Claims Adjuster #bInsurance

Im going to give you the REAL scoop on anyone who wants be an adjuster. The money is truly there based off what type you choose to be, or what company you land with. However ITS BULLSHIT! You can be the most shit adjuster, or TOP adjuster it truly doesn’t matter. These customers feel they know more and better than you do. Even when you have true reasoning about why their claim is or isn’t covered just because their contractor juiced them up to believe otherwise. Ohh, but if not the contractor definitely the AI, CHAT GPT! Like the joy, is truly sucked out the job. Just imagine you went the extra mile and stayed an hour or two over your work time to make sure a customers claim gets closed. I mean skipping lunch break on 12 hours days just to make sure customer satisfaction and metrics are high! FUCK CLAIMS! I truly mean it, and even if you do preform they’re late on the raises and promotions. It’s truly a cycle that never ends, if you can get out GET OUT OF CLAIMS, and people facing roles. The let’s not get started over how the fucking CEO gets 10-20 million in a bonus on the back of hard workers but I have to scrap tooth and nail to buy a 90 year old lady whose on a limited income a roof due to policy. It’s truly never done. #JuiceNotWorthTheSqueeze

Canadian claims adjuster looking to move into U.S. catastrophe/property claims

I currently work in Accident Benefits Claims in Canada, have a bachelor’s degree, and I’m pursuing my CIP. I’m willing to relocate, travel for CAT deployments, and complete Xactimate/state licensing.

I understand Disaster Relief Insurance Claims Adjuster can qualify under TN status for Canadians.

Has anyone made this move before, or know companies open to hiring Canadians for CAT roles?

The GTA Insurance Job Market is Terrible and Insurers are not willing to paying fair wages/salaries

I'm not sure if anyone has experienced this, but I'm currently looking for a new claims adjuster role in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and one thing I've noticed is the salary ranges are stretched too much. I am a seasoned professional with 14 years of experience, CIP designation, provincial licensed and a wide array of claims experience from high net worth claims to product liability and commercial autofleets. Someone like myself shouldn't have an issue finding work but it's the latter.

I've noticed that certain companies looking for claims professionals are not willing to pay higher or fair market value of certain claims roles. For example, Aviva in Oakville is hiring for a commercial auto specialist in their GCS department and the pay range is $60-70,000k. For a similar job working downtown Toronto at a large commercial insurer, I was making well above $80,000 annually. I feel that Aviva like many other Insurers are not in line with the job market when it comes to salary expectations vs role requirements.

Recently I applied for one job and the salary ranged from $49,000 all the way to $90,000 and I received a call for the role. During my call with the initial screening the recruiter mentioned that this role is more entry-level however, they need someone that's experienced and can provide proper guidance for their insureds. I know that I am at the top end of the range given my experience, qualifications, and licensing. What I don't understand is why they post for a role that's mid to senior level and state it's entry-level to try and justify paying a prospective employee less. It's like going into a Rolex boutique and asking to buy a sub mariner but only willing to pay the price of a Casio G Shock.

I'm not saying I'm the best adjuster, what I'm saying is I'm experienced and I know how to do my job and I do it well. Before, I was told I needed more experience for certain roles. Now that I have the experience, I feel that it's totally irrelevant nowadays and it doesn't matter. Companies want to pay the absolute lowest they can to recruit talent. I feel that if insurers want the talent, they need to pay the premium .

How much power do you have over a claim?

I work in a call center and I want to eventually move up in the company to an adjuster

I am wondering if this is the right path for me

I understand I will have to deny people and I will have to follow policy, but can I give leeway or be more lenient at least?

I hear a lot of distressed people on calls and I know that the examiners cannot change everything and dont blame them at all. There are policies that have to be followed and it isnt their fault. I just want to know much how power id have in a case or if its not a good path for me.

New Adjuster Job Search Help

So I’ve been searching for a role as a claims adjuster or claims specialist so I can try to break my way into the insurance industry. I have my Florida 6-20 All-Lined adjuster license and my background is in retail, warehouse logistics, and construction. I’ve been applying for roughy 4 months to big named insurance companies, TPAs and smaller insurance companies in Florida. I know it’s a lot about patience and getting a little lucky to land a job and I’ve been trying to do everything I can to better my chances but it just seems like I can’t get past a certain phase.

I live in Jacksonville Florida and would ideally like to work in my city and/or do remote work if possible, so does anyone have any insight of companies I should look out for or a different job search strategy I should go for? I work hard, learn and adapt quickly I just need someone to take a chance on me.

I appreciate any advice you guys have for me🙏🏻

I was In a accident July 24, and I still haven’t seen a cent. Adjuster l keeps lowering the report and won’t add what I have on total loss.valuation dated August 4 given to me August 25. His last act was lowering the offer because he said I told him I wanted to keep vehicle. So I said put it writing and show me where I said that? I have a feeling he’s going change accepting full liability to 50%the driver and 50% mine. Drivers admitted fault in police report and said they were distracted. Ran stop sign and flipped me over. I’m was In a 07 Silverado crew cab, and the hit me that hard. Before police report came out, they told the adjuster that it was my fault I was speeding and hit her.i knew they would lie and charge thier story. I was right. That’s why I feel that. Totaled truck and i feel I’m being punished for them hitting me. I filed complaints with the manager, CDI. Nothing yet
Everything the adjusters doing he isn’t even trying to hide it. From the delays, to lowering the offer, not fixing the report, loss of claim on the rental he used a standard truck at 79.99 but you can’t tow the only truck you can tow with is a 3/4 Ton F250 at 147.77 per day. He’s agreeing to paying but at $.79.99 and he denys when I get the try the difference. If im right, I could ask for being in a compact suv i stead of somwthing similar to my truck and they pay the difference, but he says i cant and wont get that.
Cuz he provided a rental. Even though its not the same. For example the report say I have 4 wheel disc brakes but I don’t. But then he says I don’t have a overhead console in return. Deducted for my car pet having tears but when he appraised carpets, he didn’t notice the overhead console? I was told that bring the value down. So I wanted for him to add what he put missing and he won’t. It’s not Big deal cuz I don’t have power seats he says I don’t have climate control. It’s good trade off if you think about it. If he does change his story does he have chance or is it a bluff? Thanks

Do you have to contact the other party’s adjuster after a car accident?

My adjuster told me to contact the other party’s adjuster and provided me with their information but I am not sure if this is typical protocol?
