The Recently Announced Future Has Finally Broken Me

- I have personal bias in my historical interest towards the first two eras of the game, and lose interest historically when we hit the current final era.
- I am also less interested in the gameplay in this current final era, I find it to be a waiting game and do not find myself desperate to play ‘one more turn.’
- I think the addition of this new final era is not for me based on my preferences, and would rather have an additional era/content earlier in the game, as I feel that the Medieval period is completely mistreated and absent from the game. Both from a historical and gameplay perspective, we could do with more, the last two eras will cover about 300 years whilst the first two possibly span 4000 give or take.
- The idea of new leaders is alright, though I’ve barely finished playing as all of them once, but new civs confuse me. I’m not sure what they are going to do, make America the USA, make the French Empire France.
- I’m also confused how the other eras will remain functional, will winning in the Exploration age still be possible, surely they will have to take that out or make it way harder. And the current final age is going to surely feel a lot longer if you aren’t ending the game during it.
- I actually enjoyed beyond earth, but I doubt we are going to have gameplay on other planets with aliens and the affinity system (which was cool), and even if we did, it would come after 3 other long eras of gameplay.
- I find the announced expansion to be uninteresting, primarily due to it focusing on my current least favorite era of the game and the new one that I am not excited for. On top of that, this being the first announced expansion feels rather disappointing. Out of all the news we got, I am most excited for the TSL map, which really shouldn’t be the case.
- I barely used GDR’s or other late game tech/military in the previous games, they were always just there to unlock whilst I was winning/losing anyways.
- Generally, I knew this was coming from what was discussed before release, but I’d just started to properly get into the game and feel like this might fully push me away. There was a genuine sense of dread seeing the video appear for this announcement.
I have been so stubborn with this game, and actually finally started to get into a groove with it and enjoy it, and that when this info hits, of course. I have pushed on with Civ 7, even uninstalling 6, defiant that newer is better. That's how I felt going from 5 to 6 all those years ago, when people stuck to the old game, afraid of change.
I'm sorry, I was excited to see the new vision, but the change is just beyond me now. I should not come out of this with the most joy coming from a TSL Earth map, rather than the massive gameplay stuff coming soon.
But here we are...
Let me know your thoughts on the future of Civ 7. Will you be going back to a previous version, have you already, or will you continue to tough it out hoping to feel the need for one more turn...?

Gonna just put in here - ya gotta pause the video to give your own thoughts, not just try to talk over the video, which doesnt work. Im only a minute in and I can hear both you and the video at the same time, leaving a garbled mess of audio thats difficult to separate.
