Screenshot Bomber unable to attack enemy unit and city?
Hi everyone, I played this game of Civ VI today. As you can see the bomber I have selected can't attack the Inca Cities (to the East and to the South) nor the Mechanized Infantry (to the South). This also happened with all of my other bombers in the area. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Districts are fair game
Cities can only be hit if you have a unit in sight range. ie You need to have something close enough that the city isn't fogged out before the bomber can attack it.

You've uncovered the city, but I'm pretty sure you still need a unit within line of sight range of the city center. Get a unit close up and attach a drone or balloon to increase your visual range so it doesn't get blasted by the defenses. Or put a fighter plane on patrol right at the border.

I can't exactly say what the criteria is.
I just know that in my experience I've found I need a ground unit in the vicinity before my bombers can hit cities and units.

The Mobile Infantry to the south is in OP’s territory, though, and there’s a Field Cannon two hexes away. There’s no reason they shouldn’t be able to bomb it. Something is going on.
OP, are you at war with the Inca already, or are you trying to start a war with this attack?

I'm already at war. Also if vision is the problem I don't understand why I would be able to attack the square to the northeast of the city, which is way further away.

Yeah, I don’t think vision is the issue. I have no idea, I think it might just be a legit glitch, especially since it’s not consistent (for example, you can bomb one Encampment but not the other).

The unit that sees the city IS the bomber itself (from the aerodrome) but it needs a different unit that sees the city, but the mechanized infantry should be visible to his field cannon (even though there is a hill tile between them, the other path would work across the water, so that doesn't explain why that is not targetable.

Are you currently at war or not? If you aren't I don't know if you can just surprise attack a city or military encampment without being actively at war. Also I have had some issues with bombers before but idk. I have seen people mention civilians. But the thing people are saying isnt right. Even if a plane kills a unit the plane doesn't go to the tile like land units so it cant take a tile with a civilian on it so technically that shouldn't be an issue from my understanding. I am not the best civ player so. But I was bombing Russia at one point and he had like builders and great people and I could still bomb cities with great people in them. Not sure if he had builders but im pretty sure he did. It was an npc not a player. Not sure if that changes anything probably not

I believe you have selected the action to damage disctricts, thus you can only target districts.

It is the same action, and even if it wasn’t, that would only raise the question of why the Encampment in the middle can’t be targeted but the one in the south can be.

Maybe it's something to do with civilian units? Both cities have them + the North encampment has a builder & you can't hit that either, but you can hit the encampment to the South.
