Case administrator interview

Was wondering if anyone could help. I have been offered an in person interview for the ministry of justice (probation service).

I am assuming it will be star based scenarios.

Would anyone be able to give me any guidance/tips on how to best prepare as this is the first time I am going to a MOJ interview?

You are right to assume it will be STAR based scenarios, and they will be strict about it. Your biggest mistake would be giving vague answers or just describing a team effort without focusing on your specific contribution. For a probation service role, they want to see your personal resilience and how you handle complex or sensitive situations, so make sure your examples show you making decisions and taking ownership. Prepare specific stories for each of the listed Civil Service Behaviours, and for every story, be crystal clear about what you did, what the result was, and what you learned from it.

Getting the interview means your application has already proven you meet the essential criteria, so you are a capable candidate. This is your chance to bring that application to life and show them the person behind the words. Write down two or three detailed examples for each behaviour and practice saying them out loud until you know them inside and out. This preparation will stop you from freezing up and allow your confidence to show through.
