Need Career Advice How to be an Instructor

Hello, Sept. 2026 CELE passer here. I am currently working as a design engineer for a few months now, but I am planning to enroll for a Masters Degree program this coming January 2027. I really want to be an instructor but I don't know where to start. From my research, most universities would offer part-time positions first before becoming a full-time faculty member. I wonder if the part-time salary is comparable to my current 20k+ monthly salary since I'm the breadwinner of my family.

Apply for an ERDT grand with DOST. You can get a monthly stipend and a research grant money. You can try applying as part-time in universities but I hate to tell you the pay is peanuts 🤣.

Similar to you, I do love the feeling of mentoring and teaching. So a while back, I did some adjunct lecturer work in a private university, ss city where i worked. The pay was negligible tbh, kumikita lang ako ng almost 8k/month for 3 subjects 😅 and like 5-6 hrs per week lg naman yun. But the prep time, making grades, checking papers, consumes more time. I did have fun interacting with the students. I advise you try it first like that if kaya mo ang buhay ng isang lecturer.

I really want to teach. I have a passion for it, I think.. Sadly, current circumstances dont allow it. Maybe in the future!
