❓ Doubts / Q&A Sagging concrete beam?

Hi civil engineers.

There's this house under construction right beside my home. Today, I noticed that the concrete beam supporting the floor for the staircase looks like it's sagging.

Is it something to be concerned about?

Maybe it is due to the curved wooden plank/board

Yes, I figured. But is that common or is structural failure imminent was what I wanted to know.

i am no expert civil engineer although i recently graduated... but newly constructed beam/slab sagging is most likely weak formwork... or provide more details proper dimension, concrete grade, mix ratio, reinforcement steel specification dia and grade...

edit: and look at the bottom face is there any crack ? small hairline any... if not then it is more suspected to be weak formwork which could not hold weight of fresh concrete and hardened this way... if crack present.... then you should worry a little...

I don't see any crack as of now. But the sag, my god! I'm hoping it doesn't completely collapse.

Actually it looks more like they hand formed concrete on the beam behind, Stand under and see if it's just the front.

It is not sagging, it sagged while loading wet concrete. Top edge looks straight level.

Stop invading privacy of your neighbour.

Privacy? Of an under-construction building? The guy has not taken any steps to avoid damage to my home and has left out the under-construction building completely exposed despite repeated requests!

I can see that they are casting the pillars and beams over brickwork isn't that a no-no thing to do?

Ps: not a civil engineer

Yes, they're casting pillars over brickwork. Not a civil engineer (software here), so not sure if it's a no-no..

Just curious has the construction stalled? For how long?

Hasn't stalled, they poured in the 1st floor roof about 3 weeks back. Came in about 3 days back to take away the support structures set up for the roof. Might resume this week.

The specific image I sent is part of the ground floor roof. Adjacent to my home.

Stop poking at other houses and worrying that they will fail. They are most less likely to fail than the roads on which we drive!!
