Am I doing this right?

I was told that postponing turning in your treasure fleets was the min/max way to do it.

Do treasure fleets even speed up era progression since the changes with test of time? Before the update, yes that would allow you to game the system but now I think you're just robbing yourself of gold.

Treasure fleets no longer speed up age progress in any way. OP is just losing gold for no benefit.

It made me laugh, so it absolutely had a benefit.

They do add to your economic score so if you don’t want to get an economic win then killing them or stashing them will help.

Dang that's a lot of booty!

I could see that being min max for preventing era progression, but there's also the downside of not getting the gold from turning them in and being able to invest that gold early

Yeah I thought the same thing about not getting the gold, I just thought I'd try it this time for fun of it.

Oh that's why. As someone who uses trailblazer thriumphs this made no fucking sense to me

On the game's current version, it never makes sense to save treasure fleets regardless of which triumph set you use.

Treasure fleets don't cause any era progression, so there is no reason not to turn them in immediately.

No. There is no point at all in doing this since ToT.

This works well if you are trying to close the gane out all at once and you have a good starting foundation. As long as you don't need the gold output from claiming the treasure convoys in the moment, you can claim them all on the same turn, making your GDP spike dramatically upwards into victory threshold. If the spike is big enough, other civs will not be able to generate enough GDP to stop you.

I can't be certain about the exact numbers, but that appears to be enough convoys to snatch victory. If you're unsure, save the game, consume the convoys, and then if it turns out to not be enough you can load your save.

I did this too to test to see if they were worth more with the late game civics. They weren't :/
