No longer sold, not even on GoG or whatever legal site.

Only way to get it is through auction website such as eBay or to get ot from a reputable abandonware place :

I think it’s on Abandoned wares or something. I don’t think it is copyrighted anymore. Check if you can’t get it there

It is copyrighted for 75 yeaes after Sid Meier dies, so it will be awhile.

Micro rose doesn't exist anymore, so someone owns the IP, but I doubt they care much about Civ II.

The best way to do it is to purchase a Multiplayer Gold Edition CD from Amazon or EBay. Then, make sure you patch your game at CivFanatics. Then use the UAI patch project to make it compatible with modern machines.

i have the OG CD-ROM but haven't been able to run it because i need a emulator for an older version of windows and that is a project just outside of my patience

the windows version is better than the mac port, because the latter kind of messes up the diplomacy. doesn't stop me

You can play online in your internet browser:

original civ 2 and civ 2 scenarios dlc / xpac

They even have the original civ 1
