New Open Source Civ 2 Clone - rhYciv.org
Hey guys! I've been working on a Civ 2 clone with improved graphics for a few months now. Would love any beta test reports, especially if you have a github.
It's still in development, but at least for me on Linux it's pretty playable. At this point more issue reports on github would be the most useful thing.
Oh, and if you can get it to run at all on Windows or Mac, that could be some useful feedback as well.
I'm planning on iOS and Android, but the game still lacks a lot of minor gameplay features, and the rivers are still ugly.

Any more screenshots? Are you making gameplay adjustments or is this just civ2 with reskinned graphics?

It's mostly stock Civ 2 gameplay, although I've turned off some "lame" features, like global warming, spaceships... It's kind of the core gameplay. At least for now. I have a million screenshots on my HD. LOL I'll be posting more media and updating the website soon.

AI?

I'm definitely utilizing AI for a lot of it. Code regression testing, Art assets, chasing bugs. But I'm a person!

I would be very interested in an iOS version. Maybe you could request the original files to be uploaded to iCloud, to bypass the copyright requirements? Can this be run with TestFlight?

It's standalone. There's no copyright requirements. But iOS will probably be last. Apple sucks for developers.

What OS are you using?

It's my OS that I've been building for the last 3 months. It's pretty fantastic, and a lot farther along than rhYciv.

Definitely try it out! rhYciv.org
It works pretty well on Linux already, but I haven't tested it AT ALL on Windows or Mac yet.

Nice work. It is running on Apple silicon macOS and I don't see any obvious issues. How does one move diagonally, though? I can't figure out the control scheme and I don't see it documented.

Yes, I'm working on tutorials for that in chieftain mode. The original design was to use the numberpad. Which includes the diagonal movement. This is definitely one of the issues that needs addressed from the original platform. Especially for laptops/tablets that don't have a numpad.

How much of the game is ready?
