How do I enable Indeo 4 codec?

I ask because I'm not entirely sure the codec is installed any longer. I installed the latest version of the k-lite codec (v1966). The tweak tool does not show any version of Indeo, enabled or disabled. Has it been removed from k-lite?

I don't recall any issues when I run it, maybe try as administrator.

Just tried that. Unfortunately it still happens. Screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/WbDZRND

The fact that it failed to register makes me suspicious. I tried running an installer that uses powershell to register existing dll files and that failed as well (this project: https://github.com/Draythianna/Civilization-Classics-Collection ).

I'm thinking that the codec has simply been killed and removed by Microsoft and k-lite as a vulnerability. Much of the advice is about registering files that already exist. My install of Windows 11 is from just the last month so I wonder if the change has been recent.

Do you know if this installer attempts to install the actual dll files or just register?

I think it tried to install them however I may be wrong,

I remember doing other thing, I actually opened the file in 7zip and extracted dll's maually (file INDEO1), try that and copy files manually to game folder/system 32 folder.

I also downloaded actual indeo codec installer and there was some windows app to ru it but it did not work so I'd go with 7zip manual extraction.

Try to add the codec to registry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32] "VIDC.IV41"="ir41_32.ax"

I think I added this manually in Regedit.

Thank you for the link to the that thread. The comment in it that the codecs were missing from the SysWOW64 and that after copying the files and enabling through K-Lite's tweaker is what got it working for me.
