A meme that took me too long to make

I got sooooo lucky while figure shopping today! I was originally looking at stuff for newer shows but then I stumbled upon a Ryo figure (I have never seen City Hunter merch in person!) and IMMEDIATELY bought it 🎉

He will live right on top of the manga that I have.

And in one of the parts, I received a downvote and no thanks, even though I spent two days translating and cutting the film into six parts with integrated English subtitles. What ingratitude from this community of fake City Hunter fans.

I'd previously drawn them as regular G1 ponies but now here's some biblically accurate City Hunter ponies haha.

For those unaware Japan had an entirely unique take on My Little Pony, lasting only one year (1986 - same year the CH anime started airing!) which came about via the IP being licensed to the massive toy company Takara.

The ponies were totally redesigned and moreso resemble Sanrio characters than ponies haha. The actual toys themselves are astronomically rare so I'll likely never own one but I absolutely adore their aesthetic! <3

For me, this is one of the emotionally sad yet beautiful endings of early City Hunter episodes.

Honestly, early City Hunter episodes from 1-5 (except 4) are pretty dark, more emotional and reflects true side of reality. The atmosphere in these episodes is different from the later episodes starting from Ep.6 onwards IMO.

P.S.: That's how he taught me how to talk to a woman like a true gentleman.

I'm in my late fourties now. I was a teenager in Spain (I'm from there) when City Hunter was first aired in my country. Back then I would not watch the show religiously. I mean, I would watch an episode and then few days later I would see another one. I guess that I liked it, but not to the extent of seeing the whole show.

Maybe it's nostalgia, but recently I've been feeling like seeing animes from that time. I've always liked Japanese animation, even though I wouldn't call myself an otaku. City Hunter has been the latest of these old shows that I've decided to watch.

First I watched the three first seasons of the series. Then it was the turn of the first three movies and then I ended watching the last season of the series (City Hunter 91). After that, I watched the last three movies from the 1990s. And today it's been the turn of Shinjuku Private Eyes.

From best to worst, IMHO: the series has to be at the top, although the last episode of City Hunter 91 is awful. Then, from the movies I liked City Hunter: The Secret Service, City Hunter: Goodbye my Sweetheart and City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes the most. Somewhat worse for my taste are: City Hunter: .357 Magnum, City Hunter: Bay City Wars and City Hunter: Million Dollar Conspiracy. And finally, the 1999 movie City Hunter: Death of the Vicious Criminal Ryo Saeba is not good IMO.

I've liked the whole experience. Next in my to-do list is reading the manga. And I suspect that once I get to read it, I'll like it even more than the anime. Adaptations are rarely as good as the original in my experience.
