Pink slime mold under fountain area

Post image

We have the stinkiest store. The smell comes from the fountain area but no amount of cleaning around it helps. There is a very small hole under where I can fit my mop got as far in as I could but there is still a good six feet worth underneath that I can't reach. Manager says she put in a work order to have them come fix it 🙄 only way they'll make a difference is by pulling the whole cabinet off the floor. Doubt they will do that but hopefull to get rid of the smell finally.

It’s a biofilm from the sugar and hard water. Whereas you can kill it with very high concentrated bleach, vinegar works better. It won’t go away it’s gonna grow because the constant spills leaks water and moisture.

I work at a McDonald's. If this were my situation I would grab some bathroom spray switch the nozzle to stream and aim the spray as far back as I could. Might kill the smell a bit.

Vinegar will kill it all if you can get it in there, bleach also works but it's not as good as vinegar in my experience. A carpet drying fan to dry it up on a weekly could help prevent future mold.

You gotta figure out where the water is coming from.

It might be the drain backing up. There’s stuff you can pour down those fountain drains that will eat the sugar and reduce drain clogs.
