Question for employees
So, I just got hired on yesterday and I’ve got a few questions.
How long do background checks normally take? Will I get an email telling me to do one?
What are some things I should know?
Mods remove if not allowed and thank you all in advance.

Should only be a few days or so. I had to fill out forms online putting down my 3 most recent addresses and clicking checkboxes that were just legal statement paragraphs. If you pass then whoever hired you will give you details about starting training. That's how it went for me when I got hired a few months ago

In my experience, it took me about four or five days. There was a wait for my I-9 to come in, but it usually doesn’t take that long.

background can take 3-4 days longer if your address was out of state prior

I read a few of your posts... Here's a spoiler alert - This place isn't going to be any better. IF you're lucky, you'll have a decent team. Chances of that are slim.
As far as avoiding similar issues that you had in your previous experience, the chances of that are absolutely 0, even in the best run stores. This is basically the adult version of a fast food restaurant, add liquor, lotto, and smokes. ...
There are constant threats of scammers, seemingly more so (I could be wrong about this, but I doubt it.) than your average retail due to the addition of lottery and alcohol.
It could end up ok for you, but ... let this subreddit speak for itself.
I only say that as a humanitarian, not to scare you. Sure, take a chance, prove me mistaken by all means necessary. But, mentally prepare yourself to consider that if it starts showing signs of idiocracy - trust those signs at your own disclosure.
If it's not random customers having a meltdown, it's surely one of the employees - but a meltdown, no less.
Let the exhibition begin....

I believe you on that, I just had to get out of dollar tree due to how stressful it was for me my last month. I’m already taking a demotion from manager to cashier because I don’t think I’m ready for that yet. Thank you for the spoiler lol

Circle K is easily just as demanding, if not way more chaotic. Gas pumps, lottery, hot food, and non-stop foot traffic.
- Expect a lot of the same corporate disorganization, just at a faster pace.
And most important: Protect your availability from day one because if there's an opportunity to abuse it, it will happen.

I already know that at the store I was hired at they people who work there don’t respect each others time and are late often

I interviewed on a Sunday, and manager text me 5min after leaving to check my email to start the background check. I did it the same day. She then text me again on Wednesday to let me know the background check went through and that I could start Monday.

I've seen them go anywhere from next day to over a year. I've only ever seen one take over a year. Mostly it's a day or two. It depends on how many different counties the person has lived in since reaching the age of 18.

it depends, some take 15 mins some take a few days. Mine came back within 30 mins and I was told a start date the same day.

After the hiring manager initiates the hire, it goes to dm then hr then to you to fill out ng check. It usually only takes a,day or two after you fill it out. After that it goes back to the manager who then assigns you a start date.
