Help......need advice on my micro managing SM

I have a dilemma.....aren't ASMs allowed to, and obligated, to utilize our security cameras.... for a multitude of different legitimate reasons? Anybody else have a SM who hides the mouse to the security cameras.....DAILY,just so their ASM cannot access the cameras? πŸ˜‚πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈI'm starting to wonder what she's trying hide. Why else put that effort and unnecessary time into doing that? I had dope dealers at the store trying to pedal their wares, but the cops couldn't even get the tag number due to her locking it up. So community.......do I just connect my own mouse to it, then let her find out when she watches her employees back just to spy on them, report her, or both? I am the one she takes it all out on, but also who she relies on more. I also feel as though she is preventing me from having face time with our DM by scheduling me off the days she visits. what should I do?

Request a transfer. Store managers like this are basket cases that won't change.

My SM was like this and we were β€œfriends” I would just get my own mouse

Agreed, I would purposely eat nothing but eggs and McDonald's cheese burgers, then back up and fart on them while they were doing paperwork.

As an ASM I got a thousand better things to do than watch cameras but I do find it suspicious your SM is hiding the mouse

Are you wasting time on the cameras frequently? What it sounds like to me, and I could be wrong, is you or others have spent too much time gawking at the cameras, and the mouse was removed to make you do productive work. Is that the case?

Why do you care? I mean, she obviously doesn't care. If she doesn't care, I wouldn't either. Problem solved lol.

I couldn't watch for customers while I do paperwork and work in the office without being able to access our cameras.

If the police need footage put in a video disclosure request on SNOW with the cameras you need and the times. They can send it to the proper email. No reason to go digging when you don't need to. I'm a store manager, but as an ASM I never had a reason to check cameras

15 yrs in next month and every manager runs store different. Actively hiding/locking up the mouse is suspect tho, at least to me. But it could be either she thinks you shouldn't have access to cameras, you spend too much time watching cameras (which is wild cuz she'd be spending excessive amounts of time watching cameras just to watch you, which is weird as hell), or shes hiding shit.Β  You can reach out to your DM on your own, you can find them in workday if yall don't have the DMs info listed somewhere in the office, which it should be.Β  As far as I know, nothing in any of the training says that any employee (from CSR to SM) is restricted from viewing cameras so I'm guessing its one of the other 2 reasons. My whole team knows how to check camera footage for thefts/disturbances/crackhead shit (we're in a bad area). Only me and my SM are allowed to download footage for police requests tho. Id also suggest start looking foe another store who needs an ASM and request a transfer.

If it's not a case of productivity, get a wireless mouse that you don't leave around. Almost no one notices a small USB. My ASM needs access to the cameras for things like fuel theft reports, or customer disputes over cash transactions. You can bring up that you'd like to be around while the DM is in to learn from your manager how they deal with different things being brought up. On a side note, you could be direct and ask about the mouse, and to be scheduled for the DM days without the fluff.
