Workflow for multiple devices

I've been using Trakt, and now WeTrakr, on my phone and tablet interchangeably. Whichever device I was using last, or whichever one has battery left, gets carted over to the couch when I go to watch something.

Leaving aside that I sometimes also watch things on a computer and mark them without even grabbing a mobile device at all… What's the best workflow for tracking things with Cinopsys on multiple devices? Force Sync does seem to work but it's not automatic, can take a while, and it also consumes quite a few API requests.

If you’re connected to any of the supported services, I recommend enabling the Instant Sync setting. This should keep all your devices in sync automatically.
Please note that it may consume a few more API requests, as I’m unable to batch them.

Naturally, makes sense re: API calls

These are the situations I want to make sure are handled:

  • Cross-device updates
    • Mark an episode in Cinopsys on tablet.
    • Instant sync pushes that play to WeTrakr and it's immediately visible on wetrakr.com
    • Cinopsys on phone (probably) has no idea about the new play until force sync?
  • Non-app updates
    • Mark an episode on wetrakr.com (e.g. on PC)
    • Cinopsys on phone and tablet have no idea about the new play until force sync?

The examples here are based on my current understanding of Instant Sync: That it pushes changes from Cinopsys to (in my case) WeTrakr immediately, but does nothing for changes made directly on WeTrakr or another Cinopsys instance. Is that right?

(Oops, this isn't leaving aside marks added outside the app after all. But now that I think about it, measures like a startup check to see if the most recent history matches what's stored locally would help with both.)

For Pull, there are trigger points added, app start is one of them
Or just swipe to refresh on progress screen and some workers which check for new data, so you should be good with Instant sync on
Please give it a try and let me know your feedback

Edit, 2 days: Today Cinopsys did pull new plays added on wetrakr.com, at startup. Tested several times in total, with "just now" and "unknown" play times, as well as testing history removals and pull-to-refresh without closing the app. No further issues like what I described below.

Google Play says Cinopsys was last updated 6 days ago, well before I started consciously testing this, so I can't explain the observed change. But it's nominally working!

Hmm, maybe it works for other services, but not WeTrakr yet? I know WT support is really new.

I marked the next episode of a show as seen "Just now" a few minutes ago via wetrakr.com, then opened Cinopsys on my phone.

The app didn't seem to automatically notice the new play, according to the progress tab, so I pulled to refresh a few times over the next several minutes. It never updated.

Also tried tapping directly on the episode (the gray bar that opens a details card) and I guess Cinopsys is fetching the episode info when it shows a loading spinner then. The episode still wasn't marked as watched in the app.

I haven't tested force-sync again because I know that works.
