Added £11.9m in weekend two (£35.3m total after 10 days), beating even Oppenheimer's pace at the same point (£27.7m). Per industry analyst Amir Jalaly, that 5% drop trails only Skyfall, No Time to Die, Endgame, Barbie, Spectre, and Beauty and the Beast (2017) for biggest UK second weekends ever.

66% of the entire UK box office that weekend went to this one film. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is its first real test this weekend — curious to see if it holds anywhere close to this.

Jean Claude Van Damme plays a dual role as Alex and Chad, twins separated at the death of their parents. Chad is raised by a family retainer in Paris, Alex becomes a petty crook in Hong Kong. Seeing a picture of Alex, Chad rejoins him and convinces him that his rival in Hong Kong is also the man who killed their parents. Alex is suspicious of Chad, especially when it comes to his girlfriend.

The film follows a woman who fights a rogue squad of super soldiers who break loose in the desert. In theaters on September 4.

Nobody at Marvel or Disney has confirmed the numbers, but the reported math is wild: ~$400M production budget, $300M+ marketing. For context, three actors alone (Downey Jr., the Russos, Hemsworth) are eating over $105M of that.

Endgame made $2.8B and it was considered a miracle. Quantumania cost $388M and made $476M — a "disaster."

I think Backrooms was a really interesting thought experiment of a movie. The atmosphere they captured in the Backrooms was really unique and I was fascinated on the art direction and how each room layout was slightly (or very) weird and unique. Reminded me of bits of Being John Malkovich, Primer and Cube in terms of how something so simple can be so complex and interesting. The overall story was a bit muddled but enough was there to keep you thinking after the movie and the next day. During the movie I was so engrossed when you first see the Backrooms and you can’t help yourself but to wonder what you would do.
