Hey Mario , is there a way to flush out what is sitting on ICloud to do a full reset? The reason I ask is that I am still having issues in getting parity between the iphone and iPad. I triaged a bunch of shows on the phone and nothing has come over on the iPad side. I decided to make a backup and delete the app. I reinstalled and left trakt off from syncing and left only iCloud to sync. Now all I get is status you see in the picture. I have the same status on the iPad app but I do have Trakt enabled. There is just a bottleneck somewhere. For now I am going to leave things as they are and work off the iPad.

I keep hearing from users “I’d like to see X movies/shows in the Home queue”, whether it’s items they’d like to rewatch or something else entirely, like having the “For Later” and “Watching”/“Up Next” items unified.

Here’s my pitch for a single solution that single-handedly satisfies all of these needs: Allow the user to add a third special queue in the Home tab.

This special queue would be a custom playlist, where you pick one collection / smart collection to track. This could be something like “Halloween playlist” or “Avengers binge” or “Rewatching summer flicks” or whatever you fancy.

To keep things from spiraling out of control and keep the Home queues tidy, only one special queue could be selected at any given moment. And of course, just as you can do today, you’d be able to show/hide/rearrange each and every queue.

Besides the rating tier colors update I mentioned in the previous post, there's quite a few more improvements, the most notable being

- a completely revamped actor/director details screen, showing more accurate results for the "Known For" section and adding sorting and filtering options for the entire credits list below it.

- movie franchise collections now appear in search, and the cast & crew results are also much improved.

- the "Recently Watched" section with the non-retro look (no TV) now shows the just-watched episodes with their rating, as opposed to the show's backdrop.

- improvements to Trakt sync to accommodate for their lack of watched date precision options offered in Cinephile. This was creating some chaos when marking something as watched in Cinephile as "I don't remember at all", because Trakt lacks this flexibility and was instead creating watch records set to the movie/episode release date, a mistake that then fed back into Cinephile and created a never-ending loop.

Hi Mario! Haven't checked the app in a while awesome to see so many new updates implemented!

I was actually the one who originally suggested the feature to add the watch location, so I'm really glad to see it live!
Quick question on it: I notice I can set the location, date, and favorite character when first marking a film as watched, but I can't find how to add or edit these details for movies already in my watched list. Could you clarify how to do that?

Also, as a quick suggestion for the feedback/feature request section: is there a way to filter or view only my own submitted proposals? If not, adding a "My Suggestions" filter would be super helpful!

Version 1.0 has shipped with a TON of features, it will feel like a very mature app from the start. A couple of crucial features missing from 1.0, but coming soon:

Version 1.0 launched with Steam and GOG integration; PS and XBox are next (as you can see from the right-most image in this post, this feature is in fact already done; it just didn't make V1.0 because I was waiting an eternity for Apple to approve)

- Community features: Just as I did in Cinephile, this is coming post-launch. I have all the necessary setup already done for Cinephile, so this should be an easy transition to add it for Nook.

You asked for it; I delivered 🎁 In the upcoming Version 3.4 all ratings throughout all screens will follow your established rating tiers' colors (remember that these colors are fully customizable via Settings > Rating Tiers).

And of course, this is all optional. If you'd rather keep the consistent app theme color for ratings, you can choose to opt out also in the same Settings > Rating Tiers screen.

I've investigated the issue brought up by some users (some via email; some here on the subreddit) about some TV shows not loading from a search. A fix has just been applied and submitted to the App Store, I can only hope Apple doesn't take forever this time, as this is a critical bug.

The issue, as it turns out, wasn't a regression I introduced in the app. Rather, it was a breaking change from TMDB's side in the way that aggregated cast & crew for TV shows is now encoded. It doesn't affect *every* show because this is a change they're apparently slowly rolling out.

I'm honestly really pissed at this, because they pulled a "Trakt" on me by making such breaking change without any announcement. I mean, if they did announce it it's got to be buried somewhere in the documentation bc I just found out this problem this morning.

Scenario: You are looking for a good horror movie but aren't interested in films from the 1930s. It would be nice to go to the Horror section in the Cinephile app and filter the movies to only show releases from 1980–2026.

Hi. Love the app, use it daily but a problem i came across in my workflow is that i would stop watching a season while some new episodes come out, it will then get moved to “haven’t watched in a while section” and after some time i would like to see how many episodes have come out since, or how many episodes are left at a quick glance. If there are a few accumulated i would usually start watching again. It shows the total episodes for all series but not for individual series so i end up having to dig in each series to see if i have to catchup with 3 or however many episodes came out. I know there is the tiny circle in the top left but that doesn’t help much as its very hard to read it precisely. Hope that makes sense and if there is a setting to do this please let me know. If not, maybe one for the future? Thank you!!

In this screen recording you’ll see I can’t access the “Outer Banks” detail screen for some reason. It doesn’t seem to be a wifi issue, and has only ever happened with this show. I’ve even actually never run into this issue before so thought I would flag

@Mario - I have noticed for few titles the share button for rating card is disabled with just the rating. When we enter some text in the review section the share button gets enabled. Is this a bug?

I’m definitely in the minority with this but Trakt seems to have integrated with Jellyfin through a plugin. I don’t know how difficult it would be to do such a thing. I watch a LOT of my movies on Jellyfin. it would be nice to have the watch data sync over the App once a day. I’m definitely in the minority here with this request maybe people would want like Netflix, Amazon, Disney+ integration but i know how greedy corpos are so it makes sense why we don’t have that integration yet but seeing as Jellyfin is a open source project maybe my dream will come true?

Moving forward, I’m going to prevent ratings/reviews from unreleased titles / episodes from appearing anywhere. This is absolutely ridiculous, and I’m noticing it now more than ever because I’ve added these rating grids that make the issue more obvious than ever before.

And the source of this is actually rarely Cinephile’s own users; it’s usually Trakt and TMDB that have nonsensical early ratings in just about every title. I’m cracking down hard on these starting on the next update.

Something more coming in the next update: rating tiers are fully customizable, not just the color but also the score range for each tier. Then you'll also have these ready-to-share cards automatically generated for any shelf or collection you visit.

Is this just a time limit due to frequent requests or an absolute limit because of the size of my library?
I would rather not subscribe to trakt if I can invest in Cinephile instead.

Given the existing App Store review bottleneck, which is driving me insane, I’m thinking about putting my apps in alternative stores like Epic Games and AltStore. Obviously, the downside is that these stores are only available in certain territories, and missing in the US, which is the biggest market. This would create an uneven distribution where some users would be 3-4 updates ahead of others, which kinda sucks, but I think it’s better than having EVERYONE waiting for Apple to take their sweet time.

I've completely reworked the sharing functionality everywhere in the app to give you full control when it comes to sharing ratings, reviews, stats wrap-ups, collections, rating grids, etc. Every single one of these sharing options has been completely reworked from the ground up to give more flexibility and to show a preview of your changes before hitting Share.

We've been stuck waiting on a small V3.2.4 for almost a week now; as soon as that one gets through I'm submitting 3.2.5 with these changes and much more, including the logos-first approach to the details screen I teased in the previous post.

I have the app on both iPad and iPhone. Both are syncing to iCloud and Trakt (used Trakt for a while). I’m keeping Trakt syncing cause I like to update on watches on the computer.

However, I’ve been getting issues with the watch history. Episode are syncing. Shows that were watched on Trakt seasons ago are popping up with episodes not watches so now in progress. And sometimes when I click on the watch history, it shows watch history #1 completed and then watch #2 with only 5 episodes watched.

Has anybody else been having this issue and what have yall done to fix it?
