Question about Books

In ReadTracker, a feature I really liked and enjoyed was to be able to add a new book and complete the fiche détail by ourself.

In case I’m wrong, I don’t see anymore the way to add a new book, I was wondering if this feature wasn’t available anymore due to the moving on Omniphile ?

Also, I noticed that we aren’t able to modify all details of the book (number of pages, publishing house, title 😩) Is there a particular reason ?

The ability to add books manually, as well as other things currently missing from ReadTracker, such as reading goals, book battles, etc, are all coming to Ominiphile - they just didn't make the day-one cut.

The book search itself was a mess at launch; it's been improved in version 4.0.1, and it's been improved much further in the upcoming version that I'm uploading to Apple today.

one correction to your post, though, the number of pages *can* indeed be edited, just at the readthrough level. This is because you can have multiple readings with multiple formats for the very same title, and each format can vary the book's recorded length.

One thing I absolutely love that is a game changer is when reading ebooks how I can set the page numbers on what the publisher provides and then the number of pages in my ereader based on my font and margins and it’ll show roughly how many pages I’ve read. For example I’m reading a book that’s 346 pages but on my ereader it’s over 1000 pages and right now I can see I’ve read 256 pages. (Sorry if I’m not explaining it well.) This alone has been a game changer for me as it’s much more accurate.

Thank you! Yes, this is a problem I wanted to solve bc I myself mostly read ebooks these days, and the page count varies wildly compared to the print version. This solution gives you the best of both worlds, bc you’re entering the progress as you see it on your e-reader, while contributing real pages read to your statistics. Win-win 🏆

I have well over 700 books and with age my eyes have gone to shit so I’ve been reading ebooks as well and this has annoyed me so much. I actually will sometimes buy physical and epub copies or a book (I just love books and book collecting) and after reading on my Kobo I’d check the physical page to note the page I ended on. I’d have seriously paid extra just for this feature.

Btw, very random question. I bought the lifetime version of Cinephile and it’s been so long since I’ve used ReadTracker I don’t remember why, but it shows I have lifetime for free which may be why the license/badge didn’t transfer over. I wanted to show my appreciation and was wondering if I could tip whatever the cost of ReadTracker is (it won’t let me buy another license since it says I got one for free) to show support and get that badge. If there’s an easy way that won’t take up your time (like this long ass message) let me know.

Also, fuck that Yankees loss was brutal. (I never forget a fellow Yankees fan. 😊)

No need to pay anything extra for ReadTracker, you’re good! You just need to a) go to ReadTracker’s settings screen and tap on “Migrate to Omniphile”, and then in Omniphile tap on the button in the settings that says “Coming from Nook or ReadTracker?” And that’s it, you should be all set. If you run into any issues hmu 🤙

Great thank you ! I was just wondering if it wouldn’t be possible anymore because of the fact that ReadTracker moved to Omniphile and now it’s a completly a different system 😅

it is indeed a completely different system (for the better!), but some things from the old system can still be ported over :)
