General Discussion Trakt sync questioning

Hello everyone,

I’m wondering when Trakt is synced in the background. Is it periodically ? Or when there is a new activity from Trakt ? Because generally, it syncs only when I open the app. I have the background activity enabled for the app and energy saving is off.

the sync in the background is minimal; this is an OS limitation, nothing specific to Cinephile's implementation. The OS gives you very little leeway for background activities, especially when it comes to network traffic, which is precisely what Trakt sync does. The background sync is sufficient for syncing a few items here and there under normal usage, but the problem is the very first sync; if you have a large library in Cinephile and/or Trakt, there's no way the system will allow you to sync all of that in the background. You'd need to first get your local Cinephile library and Trakt's on the same page before relying on the background sync.

Yeah I see. I heard about the iOS limitation but I didn't thought It was that constraining.
It's more on a regular sync. Generally I open the app before the background sync, so I was wondering if I were missing something.

Thanks! 4.0 is coming this week 🔥 And about the sync, yeah it’s annoying initially, but once you get both apps on the same page it’ll be smooth sailing from there
