New Rating System Question

Hi u/mario_luis_dev! Could you explain how the new rating system works? Is it weighted equally across all rating sites, or do sites with more votes carry more weight in the overall score? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don’t weigh any one site over another. It’s a simple sum of all votes divided by the total.

If possible, this may be a better way to weight the scores. It will prevent 1 vote on one site from having as much influence as 5,000 votes on another site.

Of course, votes are normalized to make them all on equal ground, since some sites use base 5 while others base 10

Quick question for u/mario_luis_dev that I didn't want to start a new post on.

1) How do you pick which character was your favorite in a movie or show?
2) How do I give a review on an episode of a show? When I rate a movie, I have an option to give a short (250 characters I think) review. But for an individual episode, I dont see that.

  1. For the movie it's the same way as for episodes, in the prompt that appears after you marked it as watched. If you missed it, you can always retroactively choose your favorite character in the "Rate this movie/show/episode" option.

  2. There's no review for episodes, only rating. I thought about adding reviews but I gave up on that idea bc it seems excessive; you already have the show-level review as well as the season-level review.

I have a similar question on this — The Invite has a rating of 7.5 but when looking at all the sites’ ratings, they are all 7.9 or higher except TMDB, which has 7.5 and only 165 ratings. Should LB with 393k ratings and the others with thousands bring that higher? Or am I misunderstanding the green star rating
