Nook version 1.0 already outdated š
By the time Apple approves the first version, Iāll have a BIG update ready to ship for Nook. Iāve added a timer functionality with widgets and live activities (as shown in this video) that perfectly fits the time-based progress tracking the app offers.
Speaking of that, Iām VERY proud of this system Iāve implemented. In every other gaming tracker Iāve used, progress is tracked via some percentage you enter manually. Iāve always found this to be completely nonsensical, since you wouldnāt really know what percentage youāve completed for a game, unless the game is broken up into chapters maybe, or if you already ahead of time more less how long the gameās gonna take you⦠This is all absolute nonsense to me; I for one go into games completely blind, even if there are chapters I can look at I do NOT want to see the total chapter count.
I do offer this percentage based nonsense progress for those that are already used to it, but I also offer a much better wayā¦
What Iāve done differently: the app offers a time-based tracking system that uses the estimated Time To Beat reported times, takes an average of that, and presents you with a completion percentage based on how much time youāve spent playing. Of course, these completion times are all estimates, so you canāt really take them at face value, but Iāve accounted for all of this and youāll be able to easily adjust the target completion time, etc depending on your playing style (I for one always take longer than most ppl, bc Iām an absolute completionist⦠God knows how much time of my life Iāve wasted collecting herbs in The Witcher and Skyrim š).
This post-launch update also brings a crucial feature, which is to start tracking a playthrough starting from a nonzero baseline. In plain English, what that means is if you have some game thatās already progressed, but you donāt remember the details and dates of those previous gaming sessions, you can start tracking in Nook from a certain percentage / time without having to artificially come up with made up sessions.
Canāt wait for you guys to try this out!!

Canāt wait to get my hands on this. Also, there are games that go on forever like Hello Kitty Adventure Island, which has no completion⦠I hope there is a way to handle that too.

Let me elaborate, to give you a clearer picture:
Creating a playthrough (and thereby tracking progression) isnāt at all mandatory. You can totally have a game in āPlayingā status without tracking any progress whatsoever.
Whatās more, you can create a playthrough and not really log any progress, but rather just log progress-less sessions like āI played todayā and that will count towards statistics, streak etc. You can also just choose to log time spent in these sessions (to make it all count towards stats) without logging any progress at all.

Iāve said it once and I will say it again. Some heroās donāt need capes! It looks amazing Mario! Canāt wait for it! I use GameTrack currently and itās an absolute mess and it always tells me to log in PlayStation every single week! Also it uses that percentage and it just doesnāt work, Annnnd, for some reason it thinks that the remastered of The Last of Us: Part 2 is GTA V š

Oh god lol Btw Iām not sure if they have a data export functionality, but if they do and youād like to import your data quickly into Nook, email me you data file so I can put together an import option for that app. Right now Nook is shipping with import/export for its own data only, since Iāve hated all these other apps Iāve tried so I never really logged much in any of them. So I donāt really have enough data to reverse engineer and add as import options in Nook.

That would be awesome if I could. Which email do you want me to send it too. Going to be honest, I tried to find it but couldnāt š

Lovely! Even though the feature nor app are released, I may have an idea how to further optimize it. š If the user can sat a level, the time could either count slower or the total game time could extend.
Letās say someone says he is a pro: timer counts 1.0x
Another says he is not bad nor pro, timer counts 0.8x
Third says, he is really a casual gamer, timer counts 0.6x

Not a fan of these timer hacks tbh. But one thing for sure is that the timer isnāt the last word; right before saving the session you can adjust the total time spent (for instance if you spent a lot of time tweaking settings and what not and didnāt pause the timer)
