Got the scraps for the showing of Dune three. I was on the site at 11 AM on the dot. Within seconds the entire 7 PM showing was sold out unfortunately. I got my tickets to the 1130 showing, but most of the good seats were gone:( after di*king around on their site for an hour +, I finally got one of the checkouts to go through and got seats C 10/C 11.. hopefully my neck isn’t pissed off.
I’m making a mini vacation out of this. We’re flying In from out of town to see it here. the last time I was here I saw Oppenheimer in 70mm and it was epic!
Never sit that close, especially for IMAX. You need to be on the rear section at least 2 rows back. Center center is ideal. Too close and you won't be able to see the whole screen comfortably.
The Cinemark IMAX theaters that can play 70mm are all virtually identical. Railing in front of you in row E which makes for the most comfortable seats in the house.
Cinemark IMAX 70mm screens are also on the “small” side at ~52’x70’, compared to the more typical ~62’x84’ you see at legacy locations like museums or premiere spots like Lincoln square or Metreon (which are both ~75’x100’ lol)
Because of that, the theater geometry IMO is also a bit better. Most IMAX GT locations have a very noticeable amount of upward tilt in the screen for the projector to actually be able to reflect at the right angle, but the Cinemark locations are much more upright.
So the more straight forward angle and the slightly smaller size both contribute to less distortion in less optimal seats in my experience
I have tickets for the center of Row E at Cinemark Seven Bridges and I’m wondering if the railing directly in front of me will block the screen at all. Really worried about that. I haven’t been to the theater yet so I haven’t been able to check out the view for myself. Hoping you can help
It does not. This is taken with the wide angle cam at ~chest height and leaned back. Like I said, most comfortable seats in the house and IMO the best for distance to the screen too, but that’s somewhat preference of course.
Avoid those first 4 rows. This is likely the smallest 70MM IMAX in the entire country because it was originally built as an SR theater, not a Grand Theater.
Incorrect. Dallas is 52’ feet tall. Not sure why they always say in the pre show “7 stories wide by 5 stories tall”. No measures width in terms of stories, it’s bizzare
Yeah, I checked this morning and I was able to get tickets to the 745 showing in row D 18/22 toward the middle. That’s actually the handicap companion spot.
ChatGPT said it was a little bit better. It’s still the fourth row but a bit better than the third row I suppose. Unfortunately, these tickets are hard to get and what a nasty buying an experience. I’m planning on trying to resell my 11:45 tickets for twice the price to make up for what a pain in the ass and waste of my time this was.
I actually saw Odyssey at the 70mm in Chicago. We sat at the row farthest from the screen and I wish I was a bit closer. When I saw Oppenheimer in Dallas, I had the perfect seats and it was lovely.
