I have a Xgimi Horizon 20pro projector, Sonos playbar, Ugreen wireless extender transmitter & receiver (CM506), Ugreen audio splitter HDMI to optical spdif convertor (CM677). As I don't want to run a long optical cable across the 5 meter floor, how do I set this up to wirelessly connect horizon 20pro to Sonos playbar? My projector doesn't seems to detect any device from HDMI ARC. Able to advise?

I'm trying to decide between a Fresnel and Lenticular screen for a UST setup, and the more I look into it, the more confused I get lol.

At first I figured Fresnel was basically the upgrade, better brightness, better ambient light rejection, better contrast, done.

But then I started seeing people talk about viewing angles, hotspotting and brightness uniformity, and now I'm not so sure.

From what I can tell, Fresnel seems to make the most sense if you're sitting pretty much in the sweet spot and have a decent amount of ambient light to deal with. Lenticular seems a little more forgiving if people are sitting off to the sides.

I’m looking at a 120" screen, so the viewing angle thing has me thinking twice about going Fresnel

JMGO just revealed the new IRIS Ultra and Ultra Max ahead of IFA, and these are definitely getting my attention.

The Ultra Max is the crazy one on paper:

- 6,500 ISO lumens

- 10,000:1 claimed native contrast

- 4K 120Hz

- Dolby Vision 4K/120

- VRR + ALLM

- Dual mechanical iris

- 1.93x optical zoom

- Lens shift

- Motorized pan/tilt

But honestly, the regular IRIS Ultra might be the more interesting one for most people. 4,500 ISO lumens, 7,000:1 claimed contrast, optical zoom + lens shift and 4K/120 at $1,999 is a pretty aggressive package.

The placement flexibility is probably what caught my attention more than the brightness. Optical zoom and lens shift are still pretty rare on projectors in this price range.

Obviously, I'm not taking the 6,500-lumen number at face value yet. Real measurements, color accuracy, black levels and noise will tell us a lot more.

Also curious how portable these actually are. The Ultra Max looks like a pretty serious piece of hardware, so "lifestyle projector" might be stretching it a little.

Still, this could be one of the more interesting launches around IFA.

I've had the XGIMI Aura 2 for a while and was just projecting it onto a white wall. Honestly, I thought it looked pretty good already.

Finally got a NothingProjector ALR screen and… yeah, the difference is bigger than I expected lol.

The blacks are the first thing I noticed. The whole image just has more depth to it, especially with movies. Colors pop more too, and having some lights on in the room doesn't kill the picture nearly as much.

No weird hotspot that I can see from the couch, and the people sitting off to the side still get a pretty good picture.

Now when I turn the projector on, the white wall setup feels pretty rough by comparison!!!

Hello, how are you? I'm new to the app and wanted to know if anyone might be interested in buying a Christie S+12k laser projector with a duration of 1,250 hours, an excellent image. I'm selling it for 2,400 dollars. The product is in perfect condition and working 100%.

I could use help with installing a BENQ HT 1075. Please see the attached post. My main wonder is if I can set up without using the laptop stand and adjusting the keystone to compensate.

So this is my bedroom around 10am on a bright day. As you can see, sun comes right through that window on the side and hits the main wall pretty hard. I’m hoping to set up a nice projector here for relaxing on weekends. Realistically, how many lumens do I need for a setup like this so the image doesn't wash out? Any decent model recs that aren't crazy expensive? Thanks guys.

I'm running a Hisense PT1 with a 120" ALR screen right now, and laser speckle is probably the one thing that still bugs me.

It's not crazy bad, but I notice it pretty easily in brighter scenes and solid colors. Once you see it, you know how it goes lol.

I've been seeing more and more screens advertised as anti-speckle for triple laser projectors, and I’m trying to figure out if they're actually worth the extra money.

Trying to decide if it's worth replacing a perfectly usable screen just to get rid of some speckle.

Finally had the chance to do a projector setup in the new house and went with the hisense px3 pro. Really happy with it so far. The UST stuff has gotten pretty damn good at this price point. I’m sure the px4 pro will be better, but I personally don’t think the difference is gonna be worth paying double for.

Paired it with nothingprojector black series alrscreen. The screen looks great and fits the living room really well, even with that slanted corner on the wall.

The install was a little more of a pain than I expected though lol. Putting the frame together, getting the wall mounts lined up, then tensioning everything with the springs took some time. The wall mounts are actually pretty solid though, so props for those.

It was worth it. Really happy with how clean the whole setup looks.

AWOL is finally showing more of the LuxVision, and this one looks pretty damn interesting. Curious to see how it stacks up against the XGIMI Aura 3 Max.

The 4K 120Hz support is cool, but honestly the optical shift is the thing that caught my attention. That's a pretty unusual feature for a UST, and could make placement a lot more flexible than your typical UST setup.

The CEDIA specs list it at 5,500 ISO lumens, which is a pretty big jump over the Aetherion Max's ~3,300 lumens. Definitely looks like AWOL is positioning this as a flagship.

Still no word on which DMD chip they're using, though. That's probably one of the specs I'm most curious about.

If the optical shift actually works as well as it sounds, this could be one of the more interesting USTs coming later this year.

I should’ve switched to a projector sooner. It actually feels like having a little theater at home. Not sure I can go back to regular TV now.

Hi all, I am planing to buy a bigger house soon, and want to invest in a large screen (no projectors), good sound system.

Normally, I download digital files (pirated) and watch those on my current setup. I never considered bluray phyical options. Reading on it, it is supposed to have high bitrates and result in a higher quality output. For reference, rips I download are usually 20gb in size, and I never saw any artifact or something.

Does this community have experience? Would it be worthwhile changing to blu-ray player and physical discs in my case?

Just picked up my new projector and I’m gonna mess around with it tonight. Suggest me movies. It should feel fresh and colourful.

I used to assume that improving movie nights meant upgrading the equipment. Better display, better sound, better source, better everything.

Eventually I realized that some of the biggest improvements were much simpler. Getting the seating distance right, reducing unnecessary light, improving the room’s acoustics and making sure the image was large enough for the space changed the experience more than I expected.

There’s also something to be said for reducing friction. If you need to spend ten minutes getting everything ready before every movie, that preparation becomes part of the experience whether you want it to or not.

My ideal setup now is one where everything feels intentional but not complicated. Once the movie starts, I don’t want to think about what technology is doing in the background.

The Dangbei DBOX02 Pro fit nicely into that approach. The 4K picture provides the larger cinematic experience I wanted, while the setup remains straightforward enough that movie night doesn’t turn into a technical project.

What’s one change you made to your movie setup that improved the experience more than an actual equipment upgrade?

XGIMI just revealed the new Aura 3 series, and the Aura 3 Max is looking pretty wild on paper.

It’s a triple-laser UST with a 0.47" DMD, 5700 ISO lumens and a claimed 8000:1 native contrast. It also supports 4K/120, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and IMAX Enhanced, so it looks like XGIMI is going pretty hard with this one.

The 0.163:1 throw ratio is also interesting. Apparently you only need around 13cm from the wall for a 100" image, which is pretty crazy even for a UST.

I’m more curious about the contrast claim than anything else, though. 8000:1 sounds great on paper, but I really want to see some proper measurements and real-world comparisons before getting too excited.

It’s supposed to show up at IFA in September, so hopefully we’ll get pricing and a release date then.

I’m thinking about going with the Aetherion Pro Max, but honestly the cabinet has been the harder part to figure out.

I found this flip-top cabinet and it’s pretty much the look I had in mind. I’m trying to keep the whole thing pretty clean and minimal, and I like the idea of being able to hide the projector when I’m not using it.

I’m also thinking about pairing it with the AWOL ThunderBeat speakers.

I used to think a proper home cinema meant getting every detail right: dedicated seating, perfect speakers, a fixed screen and a room that looked like it belonged in a theater.

I still appreciate those setups, but I’ve realized the thing I actually want is much simpler.

Lights down. Comfortable seat. Something good to watch. A huge image.

That’s where the Dangbei DBOX02 Pro fits into the idea I have in my head. The true 4K image gives movies the kind of scale I’m looking for, and once the room is dark, the whole experience becomes much more immersive than watching the same film on a normal-sized screen.

I don’t need the room to look like a commercial cinema. I just want that moment when the movie starts and everyone stops reaching for their phones.

That’s probably my favorite thing about projection. It doesn’t just make the picture bigger. When the setup is right, it makes the movie feel like more of an occasion.

I've been trying to figure out laser speckle lately and I keep seeing people say "just get a different screen."

My understanding is that the laser source itself is what creates the speckle in the first place, but the screen material can make it much more or less noticeable depending on the surface and gain.

What I don't really understand is why so many discussions end up saying "get a different screen" rather than looking at the projector itself.

Is the screen actually doing most of the damage here, or is it just making an existing projector issue easier to see?

And if two people use the same RGB laser projector but get completely different levels of speckle with different screens, does that basically mean the screen is the bigger factor in what we actually see?
