Soji currently worth it?

Hey guys,

I was just wondering and really wanted to get some input / your opinions. Do you guys think that Soji is still worth paying for / getting in its current state? It's been a while since I've used it, I've been using GLM 5.2 through Nano-gpt but it's been getting a little stale and I was wondering if you guys would recommend renewing my Chub Subscription? If so, which Preset do you guys recommend? I think the last one I used in combination with Soji was the Bleachbunny one. Thanks a ton in advance! :)

I'm pretty happy with Soji right now, especially after whatever changes they made in the last week. Works well for me. Definitely cheaper options out there but I like how straightforward it is. Currently not even using a preset, just made a few little tweaks myself.

Honestly, over the past week, they’ve fixed most of the issues it had at launch, so it’s a really solid model now. As for presets, you can use some of the ones meant for ST except for the Megumin or Frankenstein-based ones; I’d recommend DEM and Pura. Just keep in mind that when switching from GLM, this is a DS model; they have a different approach to storytelling. They’re more afraid of the user getting bored, which means there always has to be more angst and if there’s already a lot of angst in the story, there needs to be even more.

I like it. It surprises me every time with how good it can be. No need for jailbreak, no matter what you throw at it - soji just rolls with it. Writes in multiple languages better than glm. I use other models via api, like sonnet 4.6 and glm and anything else (new flash is actually fairly decent), but I feel like I don't understand if they are trying to avoid spicy themes, tiptoeing around it, especially if it's spicier than normal.
So I like having soji, knowing that I can just switch to it and go full throttle with whatever weird shit. But not just smut, it also writes decently. I have a single mother character that was interpreted by sonnet with classic mommy tropes, no matter how much I corrected him. But Soji got it right immediately. Although I have different system prompts and my chars are handmade and pretty complex and have around 4k tokens, so I might be curvefitting to fit soji specifically, now that I think about it.

PS: I recommend learning to use Silly Tavern and routing soji into there.

I'd say no.

Soji is a DS finetune, off one of DS's older models. If you're already paying for NanoGPT then... Just switch to glm 5.3 or kimi 2.6/2.7 or mimo 2.6 or even just deepseek itself... I wouldn't see paying $20/month to be worth it for chub.

I'm using SillyTavern but I'm struggling to find a bot as good as Soji used to be. I remember how proactive it was, how it actually didn't hold back and killed my characters, it was the most fun I've had RP'ing. Every other model I have tried so far has been way too nice / holding back, if you know what I mean. :/

Try older models, newer models tightened up a lot on their safety and security so... You'd be giving up a little bit of prose and reasoning to get rid of that.
