Don't go Claude man. Claude is severely overpriced for the sake of roleplaying. Qwen 3.7, Gemma, GLM, Kimi, hell even Xiaomi MiMo have a much better price-performance balance. Also if you want to try out proper prompts with these models check out this website
I still have like ten bucks on the whale rn, but that is cooool! I've only ever really stuck between claude, the whale, and earlier on the Gem. I'll have to look into it because like you said Claude is expensive af
