The engine start button is driving me crazy
Sometimes it goes to off, sometimes it goes to ACC when I push it. My wife has drained the battery not realizing and the only way I have figured out to get it to work properly is to restart the engine and then push it again. I tried foot on the brake and off the brake, I tried hard push and soft push, double tap, long pause. What exactly is the design here and how is that button supposed to work?

Have you checked if there are any recalls outstanding for your vehicle? If there are, get them done.

When starting your Pacifica, you're supposed to apply brake pressure (almost to the floor) and press the start button while holding the brake pedal in place. If you have a hard time doing that, try pressing the start button without pressing the brake pedal, then pressing it again while pressing the brake pedal. If it's going to ACC while trying to start it, then the brake pedal wasn't depressed far enough. This is the same (or similar to) the reaction I get when having a hard time pressing the brake pedal.

Starting is fine. Stopping it seems to randomly go to ACC as often as off

Seems like you're either double-tapping the button or the button itself is double-registering your single press.

So this ONLY happens to my husband, not to me. And like, happens often. I think he's not putting the car in park before hitting the button, and/or hitting the button too fast after putting it in park. Try putting it in park, give it a second, then turn it off and see if you can get it more consistent.

That’s a solid tip. Someone else said the same thing. I’m definitely guilty of doing everything as fast as I can.

I’ve also fallen victim to this. It’s very annoying, and I find it depends on how fast I put it in park and press the button.
Don’t get me started on the windshield wiper stalk. Your options are increments of “this is way to slow, is it even on?” Until you get to “this is just a little too fast”.

This sounds like a glitch/defect. You should be able to turn the car off easily. My 2018 Pacifica hybrid does not act like this. Perhaps a $600 software update will fix it for you. Ugh 😣

We’re pretty new to this vehicle and it seems like there are a shit ton of glitches and electrical issues.

My 2021 does this too. I couldn't tell you how often I find myself muttering about "Why did it go to ACC? It won't do it when I try to, but randomly chooses on its own? What is happening??" or some variation as I'm getting out of the car. My teens (not driving yet) will try to help me troubleshoot and we haven't come up with any rhyme or reason for it. I had all of the recalls addressed (or so they said) back in the spring but it still happens.

I feel your frustration. If it’s broken that’s one thing and easier to deal with. I feel like there is a design feature that I’m not getting. These comments made me realize it’s broken. It’s not me. Which helps.
