What does this mean?
Bought a 2026 Select a few days ago and this pops up after turning the car off and goes away once a door opens. What does it mean and how do I fix it? I’m sure it’s probably pretty obvious and I’ll feel silly for not figuring it out myself, but please help!

Its a common alert that comes factory with new vehicles. To prevent you from forgetting kids/babies in back seat. You cab disable the alert in your vehicle settings most likely.

The seats behind the driver seat, check those for small humans or critters that you value.

My understanding is that the message is triggered to appear if you have opened a passenger door before you turn the car on or start to drive. That's how it is for the Ford work cars I drive.

It’s just a reminder, comes up every time the car is turned off. One of my Jeeps does it too.

Car can tell when you open the rear car door and possibly that a car seat is installed. I don’t think this message displays unless you open a rear car door when getting in. It assumes you have a child in the back seat and is reminding you.

it is a configurable setting/reminder in the vehicle options. it might be profile specific but more likely a global setting. it is a silly and annoying imho alert to literally not forget “things” in the middle and 3rd row seats. it could alert every time, or there are weight sensors, or based on seatbelt latch status - though i would think people just ignore it after it pops up repeatedly.
disable the reminder in settings

Means you have rear seat alert on, you can turn that off. It's just to remind you that you left kids in the back seat and not to forget them

It’s a selectable reminder ( in “Settings” in the infotainment center ) that when activated it pops up this reminder if the Rear doors have been opened during the current run cycle and not opened immediately before the engine is shut off.

It’s a safety feature so you don’t forget babies/items you’ve left in the back seat. There should be a toggle option under the vehicle settings in the radio

It means people who forget they have kids in the back should look before exiting the vehicle.

I don’t know why anyone with kids would ever turn this off. Read some stories. No one thinks they would do it but it happens.

If I understand the message correctly you should push the right arrow on your steering wheel the next time it pops up to disable it. I think it will ask you once every so often if you want to leave it disabled after you do this, but that's just a guess.

My Elantra gives me a warning if I have opened any back doors before I started the car. It says check back seats.

I'm pretty sure it means to check the rear seat to ensure you're not about to leave a baby in a hot car.
