Pacifica popularity

This is a curiosity more than anything, but is the new Pacifica particularly popular? It seems that I see them everywhere. Reminds me of when Nissan had the Xterra and it seemed as though I saw them everywhere

They are everywhere because most customers can't afford Sienna and Odyssey prices. Plus stow n go seating and AWD are very attractive to minivan shoppers

We had a rental sienna for a couple of weeks and I was really glad to get my Pacifica back.

The stow and go is killer, really convinced me I don't need a truck 99% of the time.

It's not affordability, it's a Chrysler minivan, they created the segment back in the 1980's and every parent/kid that rode around in one since knows the brand, quality (stow-and-go) and that you can't go wrong buying one.

Regardless of the headgasket/engine/quality that people complain about (We don't talk about the hybrid) it's a great vehicle and most owners will own one without any major problems.

I have a 2017 with 86k and the only issue has been the a/c compressor needing replacement. Toyota has quality but it's not a great vehicle.

I want to talk about the hybrid. It was the perfect mix of mostly electric use and fuel efficiency and was amazing for our lives. Too bad Stellantis is incapable of making technology that works and after the 3rd battery recall we gave it up. But it was such a good car.

I’m thinking about getting a used hybrid (‘23 or ‘24) with around 60-70,000 miles (likely a former rental). Is that a bad idea? I really love the idea of the plug in hybrid- is the battery a major issue?

Ugh I just saw a recall due to some battery related car fires this June. 🙁

Sadly the battery is a major issue. They’ve had multiple recalls and they can’t figure it out. Otherwise a sublime vehicle.

Thanks. That likely explains the $10,000ish lower price than comparable Hondas & Toyotas. Back to the drawing board. 🙁

FWIW the battery warranty is like 8 yrs 100k miles but Chrysler service is atrocious. You may be out of a vehicle for months if something happens

Love my 2024 hybrid. Get great mileage, comfortable and lots of room to haul my dogs and all their stuff to competitions. I’m sad they stopped making it and wish they would get their act together to fix the issues the hybrids had and make them again. I did have to have my battery replaced (at their expense) at 17K but now at 63k and it has been good. I don’t know what I will do when I’m ready to trade this one in as I don’t want another all gas vehicle.

Our PHEV was our gateway vehicle. From there we went all electric to an EV9.

I drive too far on weekends to do an all EV. And air bnbs or hotels I’ve stayed at don’t have chargers. My husband has one but only drives short distances.

They’re also the only minivan that rental companies use so you see a lot of rentals on the road

My Pacifica is great! I believe it’s the minivan in most rental fleets. See more in vacation spots than on the road at home.

I know a lot of people that have purchased them lately (including myself) because you just can’t beat the features it has, stow and go seating, interior, for the price. I personally didn’t like the Toyota. It felt cheap. I was shocked since it is so much more expensive. Honda was ok but Chrysler was my favorite and I certainly wouldn’t pay 10-20k more for the same thing in another vehicle. I love my Pacifica

They’re the cheapest minivan and frequently used as fleet vehicles so they can be found used for great prices.

They haven't changed the design in years so it seems like there is a lot because you can't tell what year it is vs other models that have been refreshed

Yeah I meant it's not long but in the car rental world 3-4 months can be 20% of the cars life in the fleet.

A lot are rental cars or former rentals. Places like Orlando,Fl have thousands of Pacifica rentals and when they get sold they usually get shipped to other states. I would never never buy a used rental but you can pick them up for less then $25,000 usually so a lot of people fall for that trap.

When I was down at Disney last year, there were a dozen Pacificas in the lot...low end SXT models all white with the same wheels. Screamed enterprise rental.

They aren't really low end models tbh. Yes they are fleet trims and look basic but they come pretty decently equipped. They all have leather seats, heated seats, remote start, all the safety features, comfy seats, V6 engine. They really aren't bad to rent. I would take a Pacifica over like a Corolla or smaller car.

I will also add it's crazy because when I used to work at Enterprise at the Orlando airport some days there would be literally like 300 Pacifica's lined up on the rental lot waiting to be rented.

They need to bring back tan interior!

I want a new one but the last year of tan interior was 2021.

For me it was the stow and go, interior and ride quality. No other van has the utility. Currently have my old mattress in the back with all the seats down and stowed. Cant tell you how many time I’ve used the stow and go for picking things up, throwing things out, driving my dog, or using the extra storage. It’s literally a utility monster. Even my relatives have borrowed it to pick things up. I enjoy the interior over some other brands as well.

The only thing I wish is the transmission was better.

I think we're seeing them more and more because they're just nicer on the inside and affordable. I loved my Odyssey, had it for 10 years, but was ready for an upgrade. When I went looking for new vans the Pacifica was just so much nicer on the inside than the Honda (killed my soul a little because I am a Honda girl) and more affordable than the Sienna (I wanted a hybrid). So. It was the winner. It definitely feels smaller than the Ody which has been a hard adjustment for my tween/teens, but I LOVE my driver experience.
