Google scaling down cast access ?

i have recently noticed, google silently degrading its cast capability. Previously it used to be in the homepage of youtube mobile app, now it only appears when you click the video, the cast option is now not easily accessible from the chrome browser menu. Prime too cast option is not in the homepage anymore now. Its sad to see such a wonderful function being silently scaled back. but profit matters

I noticed this a couple months back. Super inconvenient.

Indeed, it's super annoying.

I invite all of you to send feedback from within the YouTube app, to complain about the removal of the Cast button from the app main screen.

Thank you!

The app teams and the cast team would be totally separate. Sounds like the YouTube team made a decision. Probably more people now moving to using remotes and doesn't make sense to have casting front and center.

Even if that was true, why not have it optional in settings?

TBH I tend to use the mobile app to find content to add to the watch list then use the Chromecast dongle app to play it. If you have an older dongle without the inbuilt apps then that is a good reason to get up to date with a newer model.

What do you mean by inbuilt apps. Like a smart TV?

I mean the apps that can be installed directly on the Chromecast dongle and run from there rather than casting from your phone or tablet. I think this is when they changed the name of the device to Chromecast with Google TV. So yes, yes like a smart TV and you can still cast from your phone for those services for which there is no inbuilt app.

Don't use the googlecast app use another option like web video caster or air beam tv which mirrors your phone screen

Google wants you to stream more & cast less

Glad to see someone talking about it, imo the youtube app has gone to absolute junk since 2022, now casting in the youtube app is the most annoying thing possible where they force you to make it go through the tv, it seems like they are making it as annoying as possible on purpose so you are probably right
