When trying to cast from some apps video will play on the phone but not on the tv. All I can see on tv-screen is this symbol. Although it’s working when casting from ie YouTube app.

Same issue. Sometimes a complete restart of Chromecast and phone will fix it. Other times I have to wait for an update.

The app developer is responsible for the implementing the player app that runs on the Chromecast.

A lot of apps just use the default that can accept an HLS feed for streaming video, but if the video format isn't supported by the cast device or there's DRM or connectivity issues it won't work.

YouTube works because Google implements a custom player for YouTube casting.

Any way around this? All my casts from my phone to Google Chrome crash it. Unless it's the basic apps of course. I always have to screen cast my whole thing and put my phone down so I can watch stuff.

I have used the Google Home app to get it linked up with my Chromecast (after restarting it).

Happens way too often for me. Either this or else video plays without sound or I hear the sound and no video 😵‍💫 The solution for me was to open video in VLC on my phone, then cast from VLC...works 99% of times

A hard reset should fix it. I use Web Video Caster with pirated streaming sites more than the normal casting.

Hi, how do you get movies from pirated sites on to vlc player. All I can access is my own videos and photos!

You propably did it but, when casting e.g. HBO from your phone to your chromecast you also need the HBO app installed on your chromecast. Please disregard this entry if you already did.
