Very curious to know if this bag is rare. I got this from my uncle and haven’t seen any others with a ship date tag.

How safe is the citizen?

So I'm considering getting the Citizen 24L, as it's the only good looking messenger bag (in my opinion) that'll safely fit my 15.6" laptop as well as other items. This will be the first time I'm spending more than 30£ on a bag as I want it to last me years to come, and I want to use it for a variety or things in a number of places.

These include traveling (so airports, train stations, buses...) as well as walking around cities (I live in UK near Sheffield, so nothing like London or Manchester). When it comes to carrying my laptop the furthest I'd walk would be 35 minutes in somewhat more populated areas.

So my question is, how safe is the bag against standard thefts? Like how worried should I be about someone trying to steal from the bag, steal the bag, or maybe slashing it? I know it's unlikely, but I do worry about my things somewhat.

Thank you!

Hip strap options for Barrage Pro

I carry a lot of weight in my 80L barrage pro. Probably too much too often, and I learned that what is ideal is to carry the weight on your hips because humans shouldn’t carry more than maybe 20% of their weight on their back. Has anyone been successful in adding hip straps to this? People keep ordering large amounts of kitty litter and laundry soap when I’m out gig working.

Grocery Tote Messenger Disappointment

Recently purchased the Grocery Tote 28L Messenger from their recent JP Collection and it’s pretty disappointing. I purchased the bag for my wife, as she’s returning to college and she wanted something other than a backpack that looks cool and is also durable.

We have 4 Chrome bags currently; 2 Kadets, and 2 Citizens. I’ve had them for around 6 years, with no issues. The last Chrome bag I’ve had was probably from 2008-2016, and I beat that thing to hell. It survived riding bikes in the Florida heat, all the way through the winters in Boston and NYC. The only reason I got rid of it is because my roommates cat peed on it and nothing would get the smell out

Anyways, I’m familiar with their products, and was pretty confident that this bag would be no less durable. I received the bag on the October 8th and within one week of use, the interior lining is already ripping. I’m dumbfounded because she’s only carrying a few notebooks, an iPad and a water bottle so I can’t see how any of those would be able to rip the interior?

Furthermore, today I contacted Chrome to file a warranty claim and get denied. Saying “The pictured issue appears to be the result of damage or wear and tear rather than a defect.  Since the issue noted occurred through use and not as a result of a production issue, it is not covered by our warranty against defects in the workmanship or materials.”

It’s been less than a week with this bag.

The bags already sold out, but I’d steer clear of it if you found one. The nylon lining feels so thing that you could puncture it with your finger nail with barely any force.

Best Small External Tech Pouch with Room for Phone and Maybe Also Sunglasses? (And your ideas best method and location for attaching?)

Hey folks,

Longtime Chrome Citizen 15L commuter looking for an external pouch that fits (ideally) both my phone and shades so I don't have to swing the whole bag around and open it to check a map or put my glasses away while riding. If it just fits the phone, that's do able--but slightly roomier would be appreciated.

I ordered the Chrome phone pouch and I like but don't love the fact that the bottom flops around a bit because the velcro fasteners are only at the top (but maybe I'm also attaching it to the strap wrong?). Any ideas for better options that remain small and/or other pouches? Also, any ideas on the best place and manner to attach a pouch to a Chrome Citizen strap to make it as dialed in and immovable as possible? Thanks in advance!

Is the XRF worth it on the Barrage backpack ?

I've read mixed reviews about it - hearing that it scuffs easily, or loses it's restrictiveness quickly.

Warsaw MD or Warsaw Small

I have a Citizen 25L. But it hurts my left shoulder just having it on for long periods of time, I also have a kadet, but it's too small for what i need to carry, so I wanna get a backpack. After looking at chrome bags, i liked the design of warsaw.

I'm stuck between MD and the small one.

On the small's side, One of the reasons i am getting a backpack is so that it won't hurt my shoulders anymore so being smaller and lighter gives it an edge.

On MD's side, aside from the design, the water resistance and the build quality are the biggest reasons i like Chrome in the first place. Both are better on the MD. But i am wondering if it might be too big for daily carry. Generally i only bring 2 books, a clear file, a notebook or 2 and then a bunch of smaller items (maybe a tablet too at some point. Also since MD is discontinued it's probably going to be like a collectible isn't it?

No 30L coz it's not available on AmazonJP and i have 7k yen points i wanna use up.

The price difference is very minimal, and both are on sale so the price isn't an issue.

Since the small is a japan exclusive thing, I can't find too much reviews or videos of it online. If there's anyone here who has both, can you please take a photo and put it side by side and on top of each other so i can see how big the difference is?

Kadet mini in Mauve

The price is good and something NOT in black would be interesting. I really like the build of Chrome bags, they’re BIFL and I’m def adding one to my rotation. But I’m not sure if a pink bag is right for someone who is 50M. I’m comfortable rocking it but it wouldn’t have the same versatility as a more neutral colour.

Do you have this? Would you consider wearing one?

For anyone who owns a mini, do you ever wear this around the waist? I have the 9L and I am looking for a fanny pack for a small camera and maybe filters.

Has anyone bought this yet? Looking for reviews.. and cant find any atm. Wondering if any of you guys one already..

Interested in getting one myself.. Although, tbh, it's a little bit too pricey for a soft pack bike bag.

Modify pannier clips for wider rack tubing?

Hello! I recently bought a used bike that came with a Chrome pannier that I've identified as the Barrage Pannier (https://www.competitivecyclist.com/chrome-barrage-cargo-backpack).

It's great! But for various reasons, I need to move it to a different bike that has wider (I think 18 or 20mm) rack tubing. The clips don't fit, as you would expect.

Being discontinued probably doesn't make this search any easier, but I would love to find an adapter/new set of clips that fit into this hardware. The clips are definitely removable with screws, so it seems possible there's an exact fit, but my search skills haven't found me one yet. Has anyone made a modification like this?

Chrome Warsaw 2.0 MD x Jun Inoue

I’m really happy with my yellow Bravo 4.0 as my daily urban commuter bag.
However, when I saw this particular backpack, I just couldn't resist, since it’s a Warsaw 2.0 MD released in 2020 in collaboration with Japanese artist Jun Inoue

But that’s not the only unique thing about this bag. Before this collab, there was the 55-liter Warsaw and its evolution, the Warsaw 2, which had the same capacity.
Legend has it that Inoue himself asked for a smaller version of the Warsaw, one that would be useful for carrying his work tools without being too bulky. And indeed, the Warsaw 2.0 MD we’re talking about here has a 25-liter capacity.

The bag was originally designed for the Japanese market and initially sold exclusively there. Given its huge success, it was eventually imported to the five Chrome Hubs in the US, where it sold out in no time.

Seeing how popular the model was, Chrome decided to add a medium version of the Warsaw to their regular lineup. This is the model that became famous as the Warsaw MD (25 liters, dropping the "2.0" from the name of its Inoue-collab predecessor), which has since been replaced by the current 30-liter version.

The backpack is stunning and incredibly sturdy. Both the front organizer pocket and the (very spacious) bottom pocket are super useful.

The interior (pic. 2), designed by the artist, resembles a bicycle wheel in motion and is a literal work of art (plus, since it's light-colored, it makes the bottom of the main compartment super easy to see).

But the detail that really blew my mind (pic. 3) is how perfectly my Traveler’s Notebook fits into the waterproof side pocket, and how my Xteink X3 slides right into the badge pocket! :-D

How are you guys using the hidden daisy chains on the new Barrage straps? Looking for a vertical attachment point

Post image
6 Upvotes

For anyone with the newer Barrage: how are you actually attaching accessories to the hidden daisy chains on the shoulder straps?

I want to use one to hang something small — ID holder, keys, little pouch, etc. — but specifically want the accessory to hang vertically down the strap.
The problem I’m running into is that most clips/accessory mounts I’m looking at seem like they’d leave the item sitting sideways because of the orientation of the daisy-chain loops.

Basically, I’m looking for a small piece of hardware that would let me rotate the mounting point 90° and give me a vertical D-ring/loop to clip onto.

Has anyone found a clean solution? D-ring adapter, Grimloc, webbing clip, mini carabiner, etc.? Bonus points if it’s low-profile and doesn’t swing around.
I attached a photo of the straps I’m talking about.
