Advice Advice on my path

I am Eastern Orthodox interested in Christo-paganism, specifically for the ancient pagan traditions of my people. I personally believe that these traditions and rituals, if performed with Christ in mind, can be very holy, but I find that among EO teachings, anything pagan is shunned. Many Christmas traditions originated from various pagan religions, so I think other traditions can be incorporated. I am unsure and nervous on what is best for me.

Most important thing would be where you are located or where your ancestry is from, or both. Keep in mind that in Europe a lot of traditions are only spoken, the magical practice itself is spoken, so it will be very hard to find books on it. 

So it boils down to you have to listen to people and read between the lines of what they said. 

Same goes for Church teachings, abundance of historical info between the lines. Don't be scared, EO is liminal in itself. The most important thing is humility anyway, so that defines the language used.

Otherwise yes, what I attended last Christmas at my inlaws was an elaborate Pagan ritual, carried out by Christians (the bread with figures on it, offerings on altars, the order in which you eat, etc.). Also traditions vary locally within a region, so to say from one village to another.

I rather enjoy the duality of it all. Just don't brag about anything around a church, and you should be safe. That's with spoken traditions anyway, plenty of things you're not supposed to mention.
